The Retreat is a detached property, newly constructed (2011), presented and equipped to a high standard throughout – the flexible accommodation (effectively in the form of a large dormer bungalow) is ideally set up for couples or family groups and would appeal to those looking for a relatively quiet base from which to explore Salcombe and the South Hams.
LOCATION The house is at the top of Onslow Road, a hilly road leading down into the town. Salcombe's famous waterfront, boutiques, cafes and restaurants are within a 12/15 minute walk (steep in places) whilst North Sands and South Sands beaches are a mile or so away.
ENTRANCE Level access from the driveway (set approximately 30m back from Onslow Road) leads into an entrance hallway off which is the living accommodation and one bedroom. Stairs lead up to two further bedrooms.
KITCHEN/DINING ROOM The contemporary kitchen has a range of sleek fitted units, wooden worktops and central island/breakfast bar with three stools. Appliances include a 5-ring gas range, electric oven and grill, integrated microwave, larder fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine (in adjacent UTILITY ROOM). The sunny dining area is housed beneath the glazed atrium room and has a table with six stylish chairs. Folding glass doors lead out to the rear terrace.
SITTING ROOM At the front of the house is a very comfortable and attractively furnished sitting room with two sofas, armchair, flatscreen TV with Freesat, DVD player and folding glass doors to the sunny front terrace.
EN SUITE BEDROOMS Three in total. On the ground floor is a spacious twin room with two single beds, bedside unit, wardrobe and fully tiled en suite incorporating a large walk-in shower with oversized rainhead shower, w.c. and wash hand basin. The two first floor bedrooms (built into the extended roof space) are both good-size doubles one King size bed and one Double bed, bedside units, cupboards, hanging space and en suite bathroom with bath, shower (over), vanity unit with basin, w.c. and heated towel rail. N.B. All duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels are supplied - tenants need to bring beach and tea towels.
OUTSIDE Paved terraces to the front and rear of the property as well as a small area of lawned garden and newly planted shrubs. Wooden round table with four chairs and parasol available.
PARKING Off road parking for three cars plus boat trailer on driveway.
OTHER INFORMATION Mostly carpeted throughout with tiling in the kitchen and bathrooms. Gas fired underfloor heating and instant hot water via combination boiler. One well behaved pet is permitted. Wireless broadband internet available.
