New for 2012
Tower Cottage is a cosy and comfortably furnished property, presented and equipped to a good standard throughout. The accommodation is on two levels and is ideally located for families or couples (with or without dogs) looking to explore the South Hams and the stunning Start Bay coastline.
LOCATION The cottage stands in the very heart of Slapton village, just half a mile or so from the coast and within easy reach of local beaches and amenities. The front aspect of the cottage overlooks the 14th Century village church whilst the rear terrace is just a few yards from the Tower Inn pub - a second pub (the Queens Arms) and village store are within a short walk. Slapton is a pretty, traditional Devon village (listed in the Domesday Book as 'Sladone') just 5 miles or so from Kingsbridge and 7 miles from the famous naval town of Dartmouth.
VIEWS Lovely views from most rooms across the churchyard to fields and farmland beyond.
ENTRANCE The cottage is accessed directly from a narrow lane that runs through the village. A wooden stable door leads into a lobby/hallway with slate tiled floor and access to all the ground floor accommodation. Stairs lead up to the bedrooms on the first floor.
SITTING ROOM The first of two reception rooms is a cosy space with wood-burning stove, two comfortable double sofas, widescreen TV with Sky+ HD, DVD player and narrow door out to the side terrace.
LOUNGE The second living room has two attractive tan leather double sofas, wood-burning stove, TV, occasional furniture and leads up via one step to the dining area.
KITCHEN/DINING ROOM Galley-style kitchen with fitted units, four ring electric hob, oven and grill, fridge/freezer, microwave and door out to rear terrace. A small utility area at the back of the kitchen houses a washing machine and tumble dryer. The dining area has a black wooden table and four chairs.
BEDROOMS Two, both on the first floor. The master bedroom has a King-size bed, bedside units, chest of drawers, fitted wardrobe, TV, and lovely views. The second bedroom is a twin with two metal-framed single beds, bedside unit and TV (chest of drawers on landing outside the bedroom). N.B. All duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels supplied - tenants need to bring beach and tea towels.
BATHROOM An attractive, mostly tiled family bathroom includes a freestanding bath (with hand-held shower), large, separate shower cubicle with electric power shower, w.c., wash-hand basin, heated towel rail and shaver point.
OUTSIDE To the side of the cottage is an attractive and fully enclosed stone terrace with wooden bench. A cast iron gate leads out to the lane. At the rear is a larger stone terrace with table and four chairs, and steps leading up to the Tower Inn driveway.
PARKING* Usually available in the village nearby
OTHER INFORMATION The cottage has a combination of stone tiled flooring and carpet on the ground floor with carpet in both bedrooms. Gas fired central heating and hot water.
