We had a wonderful week at Butterwell Barn, it was perfect for a family of 3 generations from the layout to the more than fully equipment kitchen!

We’ve stayed as a family in 5 holiday rentals now and this one beats them all! Gail was a lovely host, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Butterwell Barn is a fantastic property .

It is the best equipped holiday home I have ever stayed in - literally everything you need is there. Very comfortable beds in all the rooms. Gail is a first rate host - always responsive if you have a query ( where to find something in the large kitchen

Such an amazing accommodation with everything and more for what our family needed. The barn was just perfect such a beautiful place. We loved the outside area too which was perfect for our dog. It’s also in a brilliant location and central to a lot of local places. The owner Gail was exceptional and made sure we had everything we needed. The cake and goodies basket on arrival was very thoughtful. We will definitely be back for sure as we all loved the place and were sad to leave. Butterwell Barn made our holiday perfect. We had an absolutely exceptional stay at Butterwell Barn and couldn’t have asked for more.

The property was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. What really stood out was the incredible attention to detail. Every aspect of our stay had been thoughtfully considered, making it feel like a true home away from home. We were especially impressed that everything was catered for, even for our 9-month-old grandson, which made travelling as a family so much easier and more enjoyable. The location is wonderful, and the barn provided the perfect place to relax and make special family memories. We couldn't have been more pleased with the standard of the accommodation which was excellent.

Everything had been thought of and was just so. Ideal location in the countryside but near to Dartmouth and the edge of town supermarkets. The tip to get a weekly ticket for Woodlands was much appreciated. The kids (and some of the adults) loved it.

8 of us had a wonderful stay at Butterwell Barn.

There was a delicious home made cake waiting for us on our arrival and the barn was very clean and tidy. The upstairs open plan kitchen, dinning and living area were very spacious and catered to our every need. It was lovely to have 4 super king beds with en suites. Dartmouth town was very close by and we also spent a great day in Salcombe. I would highly recommend this property and the owners were very attentive and helpful.

What an amazing barn. You can clearly see the pride the owners take in their barn to give a 5 star experience from the start to the finish of the holiday. Their hospitality and personal touches are second to none, from the helpful advice given before the holiday to the warm welcome on arrival. Awaiting you is a fridge of essentials and a very generous hamper with a delicious homemade cake, which was all very much appreciated. The spacious open plan kitchen, dining, living space is superb and immaculately clean. The kitchen is incredible well equipped, everything you need and so much more. The living area has beautiful characterful features with wonderful views. Even the dogs have been very well catered for. The bedrooms have large comfortable beds all with ensuites with high end fixtures and fixings. Outside there are multiple areas to enjoy the perfect location which is very peaceful and picturesque. This is the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in and we look forward to returning soon. Everything about this barn summed up in one word is EXCEPTIONAL.

Butterwell Barn is easily the best property we have ever rented for our long standing annual week away with extended family.

It’s in a beautiful rural setting. The layout is well thought out, everything is of a high quality and maintained to a very high standard. Comfortable beds, beautiful decor, fabulous kitchen and bathrooms and all incredibly well equipped in every way. Everywhere and everything was beautifully clean and tidy. We also made use of the electric vehicle charging on site. Gail and Philip are wonderful hosts and always helpful if needed. They warmly welcomed us on arrival, complete with a delicious lemon sponge and lovely hamper of goodies AND Easter chocolate. Definitely somewhere for a return visit.

Wow!

This has been the best place we have stayed at so far. Gail and Phil’s attention to detail was not unnoticed and we had lovely week away. Everywhere was exceptionally clean and had everything we could need. The kitchen was well supplied and the hamper that we received on arrival was so thoughtful and delicious (especially the homemade cake). The beds were very comfy and to have a bathroom each was perfect. Outside there’s a lovely large patio area which hosts a large fire pit and seating. This is also a lovely sun trap and a good place to sit and watch the neighbouring sheep and lambs. There's also a garden area. All very secure. This place is a great base to explore Dartmouth and surrounding coastal paths with hidden coves from and we will definitely be back.

We all had a wonderful holiday.

The accommodation was first class. The kitchen equipment was of good quality and we had everything we could possibly need. The beds and pillows were really comfortable. The owner was extremely helpful, giving the best travel directions and information about the area. What a good hamper she left for us on arrival, along with a really tasty chocolate cake! All in all it was a great place to stay. ,

This was a great base for our family holiday and even better as it was not down lots of single track roads.

We absolutely love Butterwell Barn and for the second time booked for next year before leaving.

It is so cosy and beautifully laid out and everything is of a really high standard. This year we came for Christmas and it was beautifully decorated. The beds are really comfy, fantastic en-suites and showers and a lovely big kitchen for cooking Christmas dinner. It is a perfect size for 8 and very dog friendly. Ideal quiet location for trips to Dartmouth and Totnes. Can recommend Blackpool Sands cafe for lovely breakfast baps, hot chocolate and food but worth booking. The owners always bake a cake for arrival and are super friendly and helpful. You won’t find anywhere better!

This is a lovely barn conversion a short drive outside of Dartmouth.

Very comfortable bedrooms (4 en-suite) and a very large living/dining/kitchen above with views across grazing land. Beautifully furnished with a relaxed air about the place. There is a secure patio area if you have a dog and also a bespoke futon bed for your pooch! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This was our second visit to this beautiful converted barn (our first being in 2019) and once again, we were not disappointed.

We were a family of 8 plus a baby and dog, and from the moment we arrived we received a warm welcome from the owner, complete with a hamper of goodies and a freshly baked cake. Communication before and during our stay was excellent, and on arrival we found the cottage immaculately clean and set out with guests’ comfort in mind. The high standard of furnishing and attention to detail made it truly a home from home – everything we could possibly need had been thought of. The outside patio area was also a lovely, comfortable space to relax in. We would highly recommend this 5* cottage and look forward to returning again in the future.

Butterwell Barn is a beautiful property that has been renovated to a very high standard.

Everything you could possibly need has been thought about and provided, even down to umbrellas and shopping bags for you to use during your stay. If we visit Devon again we wouldn't hesitate to rebook a stay at the barn.

Gail had baked a lovely cake and provided a welcome basket with scones, eggs, etc which was very much appreciated. Butterwell Barn is a fantastic property, it has been furnished to a high specification and cannot be faulted. With all bedrooms being ensuite it was perfect and the beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed Dartmouth, the river cruises, the steam train journey from Kingswear to Paignton, a visit to Paignton Zoo and a few of the local beaches and National Trust places and some lovely meals in the local pubs. We employed the dog sitter, Ann, when we went to the Zoo and she was excellent with our son's spaniels. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Butterwell Barn.

Wow, what a barn!

! Gail and Philip were fantastic hosts from start to finish and the barn itself is stunning. Everything is very well appointed and beautifully finished. There is nothing that has not been thought of, from air fryer to everything you could need in a home. Would highly recommend and Gail's cakes are fantastic!!

Perfect retreat for taking it easy, enjoying the countryside and having easy access to loads of different venues nearby: Dartmouth, the River Dart cruises, Agatha Christies house, Dartington and many more.

The property can't be faulted: everything is quality, from the huge kitchen/dining room/lounge under massive Polish oak beams to the huge, comfy beds and power showers. The property is set well off the road and down a long driveway, so no car noise and hence a peaceful retreat. Owners are wonderful hosts - communicative, welcoming, friendly and always willing to help. 10/10

This is an exceptional property, extremely well appointed with everything high end.

There has been a lot of thought given to ensure the best possible stay. Easily one of the best properties we’ve stayed in.

The most beautiful place we have ever stayed in.

Such high quality layout, fixtures and fittings and contents. Such attention to detail and every little thing had been thought of. Lovely quiet location, plenty of parking, comfy beds, great showers and so much space even for 8 adults! Very dog friendly with a built in stair gate, enclosed grass area and even dog towels. As upside down living, was good to also have a toilet on the living area for those less mobile, something we haven’t had in similar layouts. We were so impressed with the barn, we booked within 48 hours of arriving for next Christmas! Lovely owners too, we had a nightmare journey and my daughter had arrived separately by train so they took her to the local supermarket for her to get some supplies, so kind. Would also recommend the Sportsman's Arms a few mins drive, great home cooked food - they do a fab roast everyday - and dog friendly. Worth booking though as gets busy. Dartmouth and Salcombe both close by and worth a visit. I doubt we will ever book anywhere else now when visiting this part of the U.K.

An exceptional property in a perfect location.

Equipped with everything you could possibly think of, beautiful furnishings, amazing kitchen, gorgeous bedrooms with very comfortable beds and hot powerful showers. Immaculately clean throughout. The finishing touches of fresh flowers on the table and bedrooms, homemade cake and scones and the table set on arrival made it feel a real home from home. Dogs are also made very welcome with their own sofa and a basket of towels. Thank you Gail and Phil for making us feel so welcome. We had an amazing holiday and wish we could have stayed longer. We would love to come back another year.

We recently spent a fantastic week at Butterwell Barns in Dartmouth, and it was truly a luxurious escape.

The barn itself was stunning—beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and equipped with every amenity we could possibly need. The attention to detail was remarkable, making our stay comfortable and stress-free. The outdoor area was a highlight, offering lovely views over the picturesque countryside. We made the most of the BBQ and fire pit, spending our evenings toasting marshmallows and soaking in the serene surroundings. Our dog was also in heaven, enjoying the fully enclosed outdoor space without a care in the world—this place is incredibly dog-friendly! The location was perfect, just a short distance from the Dartmouth ring and ride, making it easy to explore the area. On arrival, we were delighted to find a generous welcome package waiting for us, complete with fresh eggs, jam, homemade scones, and a delicious lemon drizzle cake that we couldn't get enough of. Throughout our stay, we felt wonderfully supported by the owner, Gail, who checked in to ensure everything was going smoothly. Her warmth and hospitality added a personal touch that made our experience even more special. In short, Butterwell Barns provided a perfect family getaway. Every member of our group, including our furry friend, had an unforgettable time. We can't wait to return!

One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.

Well equipped and very comfortable with loads of space for a large group. Impressed with how well it was stocked with the basics, like washing powder etc, as well. Before we arrived we were sent a great booklet that told you all about the property and the surrounding area so we hit the ground running. The host also kept in touch at every stage to ensure we had the best holiday experience. Will definitely go back when we next visit Devon.

Three generation holiday and a dog.

Quiet and peaceful location. Exceptional accommodation, the best of the many barn conversions in which we have stayed. Barn is a quality build with fixtures, fittings and furnishings to match. Friendly and helpful owners. More detailed feedback apparently on TripAdvisor from my son-in-law! Highly recommended.

We are a family of 6 (including 3 children & grandparent) who travelled to Dartmouth for a week, with our dog, a rather big Hungarian Vizsla.

The property was gorgeous, spacious and equipped with absolutely everything we would need for a week and more. It was a great base to explore the local areas (by car) and a wonderful place to relax after a day if activities/sight seeing. The owners were so welcoming and small touches like the chocolate cake, scones etc. on our arrival, were as delicious as they were thoughtful. I highly recommend this property. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves staying there.

We had a wonderful time with friends and their dog at Butterwell Barn for a week.

The attention to detail is outstanding and the barn was perfect for us! We only used the two larger bedrooms but as these were identical there was no need to decide who would get the 'best one'. The barn was fantastic, just a ten minute drive from Dartmouth and with stunning views over the countryside. We got to see the resident hare(s) more than once. Having the EV charger onsite was a real bonus too, and so easy to use. Gail had really thought of everything, even baking a delicious lemon drizzle cake and scones to welcome our arrival.

We have stayed in holiday cottages for many years but none have compared to Butterwell Barn.

The house is spacious, beautifully equipped and spotlessly clean. The outside areas are peaceful and relaxing. The owners are very welcoming and very helpful. The homemade cake was divine. We would not hesitate to recommend this property in this lovely area.

We were met by Gail who gave us a very warm welcome.

She showed us around the property explaining how everything worked & where to find every piece of equipment imaginable. The next day Gail texted to ask if we had any problems or needed more information about the property. We would highly recommend this property as it is very comfortable, well maintained & a very high standard of cleanliness. We all had a very enjoyable stay. Our French friends thought it was a beautiful exceptional property.

Location fabulous with short drive to places like Dartmouth harbour and other local beautiful beaches and Coves pub near by about 2 mins in a car . The Property was exceptional with all the little details thought of and attention to detail it was just so well thought out and luxurious 10 out 10 for me everytime we will certainly come back and I would urge anyone to experience this lovely place in Dartmouth Devon.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The barn was beautifully presented, clean and very comfortable. The owner could not have been more helpful and accommodating.

Gail was friendly and welcoming upon arrival.

She gladly showed us around the property and explained how everything worked and where everything was. The property was immaculate and spotlessly clean, and all the finishing touches were completed to a very high standard, including a specially prepared Easter hamper and home made lemon drizzle cake that all went down a treat. Nothing was too much trouble for Gail and Phil throughout our stay, and they were extremely attentive to our needs. Butterwell Barn was a perfect retreat for all 9 of us (including our Greyhound), and provided us with everything we needed for the duration of our stay. Dartmouth Town Centre is a short drive away, and The Sportsman's Arms and local garden centre is only 5 minutes away by car in the opposite direction, where you can enjoy wonderful home cooked food and a selection of ales in the pub, or a hearty breakfast or afternoon Devon Tea in the garden centre. The only blot on our stay was the malfunctioning outdoor lights that prevented us from enjoying the fire pit to its fullest during the evenings, and made it somewhat difficult navigating the steps and outdoor areas in the dark of night. The recent wet weather caused the consumer unit to repeatedly trip, so outside lights were not working throughout our time at Butterwell Barn. An additional consideration would be the lack of a garden area for relaxing in during the summer months, or for children to play in, as the land surrounding the barn is predominantly stone, and the surrounding fields are farmland. That said, the facilities inside the barn, and the first class renovation made for a wonderful holiday for all in our party. Thanks Gail.

We are eight friends, one of whom was celebrating a significant birthday, who have just spent a wonderful week in Butterwell Barn.

It was our first visit and we knew, having read previous reviews, that it was a stylishly furnished, extremely comfortable, superbly equipped, and spotlessly clean holiday home, even so it exceeded our expectations. Gail, the owner, was very friendly and helpful and the Welcome box of scones, eggs, fruit juice and delicious lemon cake was much appreciated. It is a great place to stay whatever the season and/or weather and its location is ideal to explore the South Hams area of Devon. We highly recommend this holiday accommodation and we hope to return one day.

It is maintained to the highest standard, very comfortable, spacious and superbly well equipped. It's situated in a beautiful spot and very convenient for visiting different places in the area. How to describe our stay in one word ?

FAB-U-LOUS? Butterwell Barn was simply amazing , from the very start receiving an extremely warm welcome from Gail ( and delicious baked goodies ) to a heartfelt goodbye from Gail, Phil and their little doggie. We took advantage of everything this luxury Barn had to offer, family meals made together in the most wonderful kitchen with every gadget and gizmo you would expect to find in a professional kitchen, BBQs on the terrace , late night sun downers around the outdoor table and fire pit , gin cocktails mixed with the amazing selection of herbs in the garden was a delight ! The bedrooms ( all en-suite) were spotless , the beds very comfortable and the linen and towels top notch hotel grade. We booked Butterwell to spend time with our busy family and the open plan living made this a dream , movie nights , quiz nights , etc , quality time was made easy . Gail has left no stone unturned at Butterwell , this place has it all . If you expect high standards then this is a must for you and the family. Well done Gail & Phil !

The Barn is beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. Comfy bed, quality bed linen, powerful showers and the list goes on!! Gail the owner met us and showed us around. She made us extremely welcome and left us with a welcome hamper and homemade cake and scones. The barn is so well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a self catering holiday. We had a couple of questions during our stay and Gail offered to pop around to help us. The property is extremely peaceful with country fields around you. A short drive and you are in Dartmouth. Book with confidence that you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful barn conversion.

Owner very helpful. Just a tip if you are visiting :- In hot weather the upper storey gets very warm including at night. Might be worth packing a fan or two - particularly if you are taking a dog.

Decorated and furnished to a really high standard. Everything you could ever need in a very well equipped kitchen. Top quality homeware, bed linen and towels. Excellent outside seating areas. Even our family dog was well catered for! Our host, Gail, could not have made us more welcome. Extremely friendly. Easily contactable and close by if ever needed. Loved the homemade cake, scones and the welcome hamper. Beautiful fresh flowers too. Would we return to Butterwell Barn? It's a definite "yes" from the Dolman family. Butterwell Barn is a fabulous place to stay.

It is equipped with everything anyone could possibly need and is spotlessly clean and well presented. Gail, our host, was charming and very accommodating to every request, even providing a brand new barbeque once she was aware that we had one planned. The barn is in a great area with plenty to explore whatever the weather; be sure to make use of the Dartmouth park and ride which is a very short drive away and makes visiting the town really easy and fun. Don't hesitate - just book - we are sure you won't regret it.

We were a group of 8 adults and 2 dogs and we all had a great time staying in Butterwell Barn. Gail the host was great and let us arrive and depart at any time to suit us. The afternoon tea which was there to great us was lovely and went down a treat. The facilities are excellent and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The en-suite bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The barn is nestled in a dip which is surrounded by hills with sheep and lambs grazing which was a beautiful sight to enjoy in the morning whilst sitting outside with a cup of coffee. Definitely dog friendly with their own bed, towels and water bowl. Wound highly recommend and would love to return.

We’ve just had our third trip to Butterwell Barn and it was as comfortable and welcoming as ever.

Gail and Phil have equipped Butterwell to such a high standard, from the furnishings, to the bed linen and towels, to the spec of the kitchen, that it’s become our first choice for our trips away. The Barn is always immaculate on arrival, and the cake and scones are always very much appreciated! It’s warm and cosy too. We loved watching hares in the field and the sheep with their lambs. It’s an easy trip into Dartmouth, and a taxi for six of us for an evening meal was a very reasonable cost. I’m sure we’ll be back again!

The day of our arrival we were told that we could get there earlier as no one had been the night before which was generous. Talking of generous the welcome goodie box was simply incredible and delicious. The location and barn were perfect .

We have stayed in holiday cottages in the past and this was the cleanest and best equipped. .. Gail was very welcoming and helpful and we arrived to treats . Lots of wonderful places to visit in the vicinity . Dartmouth is very close and we were lucky enough to go during the start of Regatta week when it was a party town ….

Property was excellent, but equally important was the host Gail, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was pleasant.

Great knowledge of the local area and pro-actively reached out incase we needed anything.

Butterwell Barn is a beautiful place to stay.

The Barn itself is astonishing, also amazingly well presented, and by far and away the best equipped holiday home we have ever stayed in. There was even provision for our dog with her own sofa! Dartmouth (and all its facilities) are barely 10 minutes away, as are a whole range of places to go and see. It makes a perfect place to use as a base to ‘do tourist’, but equally if you just want to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The owners were very kind and attentive, helpful with advice and suggestions, but did not intrude on our privacy. We would wholeheartedly recommend Butterwell Barn as a place to stay.

The property is beautiful and so calm and quiet it is a delight to stay here. Great attention to detail of property presentation (fresh flowers and pretty prints and photos) and ‘finishing touches’ eg home made scones on arrival (with clotted cream and quality jam) Great recommendations for local food shopping and beaches: spacious rooms and a great choice of kitchen equipment so we could do a proper dinner. Everything comfortable indoors and out, and stair gates to keep the dog and the toddler safe and contained. This is a great rental for a lovely Devon holiday and Dartmouth is a nice place to potter about, shop and eat. This was our second visit and we are likely to return.

Gail and Phil have put a lot of thought into making this barn wonderful. All you need. Secluded in the country side, yet only ten minutes from Dartmouth by car. We have stayed in some excellent places over the years. This one comes out tops !! Perfect in every way for a large family or family occasions. Would highly recommend !!

Butterwell Barn exceeded our expectations.

We were a family group of 6 adults, 1 toddler and a dog. The Barn is beautifully furnished and all needs catered for, even the smallest details have been thought of. Kitchen extremely well equipped, bedrooms spacious and beds very comfortable, showers amazing. The setting is peaceful and tranquil Perfect sunny outside dining terrace areas and a small grassed off area for the dog. It is well situated to get to Dartmouth 10 mins drive, we used the Park and ride a couple of times which worked well. Would very much recommend this accommodation. Hosts Gail and Phil very helpful too.

Have just returned from a wonderful week with some of my family at Butterwell Barn.

It’s difficult to believe that this was once a barn because the whole building has been rebuilt to grand designs. All the furnishings and fittings are of top quality. Hamper and fresh flowers on arrival was very welcomed. Gail and Phil have thought of everything to make your stay perfect and it’s no wonder that they have received top awards. Even during a busy lambing period we were invited to their farm to see the lambing which we all, especially my 2 granddaughters really enjoyed. Because of storm Eunice, Gail was very concerned about us leaving on the Friday so allowed us to stay an extra night which was very much appreciated. Thanks.

The barn exceeded our expectations.

The standard is very high throughout. It was lovely to meet Gail on arrival and the cream tea and welcome pack was delightful. The kitchen is fabulous, the quality of all utensils and equipment is excellent making meal preparation a joy. We were 6 adults plus a 2 year old and 5 month old baby, we all had a lovely relaxing stay in this peaceful location and look forward to a return visit.

It was a pleasure to spend a week in this beautiful, spacious and comfortable home away from home situated just outside of Dartmouth.

Butterwell Barn is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, of the highest standard and spotlessly clean with thoughtful touches of fresh flowers in each room and a lovely ‘afternoon tea’ welcome basket. We were met on arrival by our friendly host, Gail, who even helped to put our shopping away which was being delivered just as we got there. We will certainly book to go back.

Exceptionally clean and comfortable, the owners had thought of everything you would want in a stay. Gorgeous views over the fields so we could see the neighbours.. (the sheep) Arrived to the most delicious Victoria Sponge. Would be back in a flash. 10/10

Absolutely stunning property best we have ever stayed in. The level of specification provided an incredibly comfortable and clean place to stay Communication with the owner was excellent who had thought of everything I simply cannot stress enough how gorgeous this place was. We stayed as a large family with a 2.5 year old and a 2 year dog all having different tastes and expectations but it suited us all

Gail and Phil have really thought of everything, making our stay at Butterwell above and beyond what was expected (and we expected great things from the listing :D).

The location is stunning, the house itself is beautifully done and has plenty of space for a large family staying. The fact that dogs are also catered for is the cherry on top. We will absolutely be returning and would recommend to anyone.

Butterwell Barn provided everything we needed to ensure we experienced a lovely family holiday.

It was surrounded by glorious countryside and located close to Darmouth with other nice places to visit fairly near by. The entrance to the property which is on a busy winding road needed to be more distinguishable as we passed it on several occasions when returning to it. On arrival, it was easier to spot the entrance as the owners kindly placed two red children's windmills locating the entrance and when they were removed, it was harder to judge ahead. This recommendation has been passed on to the owners. Must add, the actual property is set back down a lane so is very private and no concerns regarding any traffic. Due to not being able to get into the property until 5.00 p.m., we basically lost a good part of the day in the property, but appreciate COVID19 has an impact on cleaning the property. The owners did allow us to drop off our luggage which was greatly appreciated, but when you have perishable foods and travelling a good distance, it was a concern. I would therefore suggest a day 'down time' between bookings to enable families to arrive much earlier in the day to settle in and start their family holiday especially when you have very young children. We really appreciated the welcome basket which had fresh scones, eggs, jam, clotted cream and fruit juice and the owners were thoughtful enough to recognise a special birthday by leaving a card and a beautiful bouquet of flowers. This was a lovely thoughtful touch! We would definitely recommend visiting this property as overall, it ticked all our boxes. When the weather is sunny and warm, it is even nicer! Thank you!

Just returned from a fabulous week at Butterwell Barn.

We are a family of 7 and 2 dogs and this was our 3rd year holidaying in Devon. Butterwell Barn has been our best find yet and we have already booked for next year! The location was perfect, as were the views. The barn is spotlessly clean, well equipped and furnished to an extremely high standard. Would thoroughly recommend and looking forward to returning next summer.

The barn was absolutely amazing, all the facilities you could wish for and the dogs were made welcome and with the fencing, completely safe.

It looks good in the photos, but it’s even better in reality.. Gail was a very welcoming host, ready to explain every thing that we needed to know. The welcome cake and cream scones were a delicious surprise. The little extra’s such as flowers in every bedroom, also a beautiful bouquet in the main living area, to the ready supply of towels for the dog, all go to show what good hosts they are. We can’t recommend it highly enough, thanks for a lovely holiday.

Wow!

We are a group of four couples who frequently book a holiday home together and Butterwell Barn is by far the best we have ever stayed in. The accommodation is spacious, very comfortable and the attention to detail shows how much the owners care. We like to cook and Gail and Phil provide everything you are likely to need in the kitchen, more than enough crockery, cutlery and glasses and plenty of space in which to work. The others could comfortably relax at the other end of the barn, chatting or watching TV. The bedrooms downstairs were very comfortable and with ample storage. The outside space looked great and in the warmer weather would be a big plus. Gail and Phil were great hosts and provided a welcome hamper which included a delicious homemade cake. They were extremely helpful and got the balance between leaving us to enjoy ourselves and being available just right. We thoroughly recommend booking Butterwell Barn and thank Gail and Phil for a brilliant holiday.

This property was outstanding, it was exceptionally clean and so fantastically maintained, we felt we were the first to stay here.

There were so many little extras which made us feel welcome , for example the dog towels provided the shoe holders to dry out wet shoes, heated towel rails that worked and so many more. Gail gave us a splendid tour of the property showing us all the useful tips to make our stay more relaxing. The Dogs loved the big dog sofa and relaxing in front of the fire was amazing after a wet walk. Not to mention the complementary homemade cake and scones,jam and cream being a very welcome treat and a change from Turkey leftovers. Having a visit from the owners to check we were ok and offers of extra plates or cooking pans etc for the Christmas meal was a lovely idea, although we wanted for nothing the kitchen was very well equipped and the addition of the warming ovens was a god send. We had a fantastic time at this property and would go as far to say that it is the best out of the 6 we have stayed in over the last 6 Christmas breaks away as a larger group. Very impressed with the recycling system and very eco friendly.

Butterwell Barn has to be the best holiday cottage we’ve ever stayed in.

The owners seem to have thought of everything and even left fresh scones, jam, cream and cake for us. We had a keen cook in our party of friends who absolutely loved the kitchen! The bedrooms and en suites are beautifully kitted out and extremely comfortable. We just couldn’t find fault with anything. Our only gripe was that we tried to book a return visit before we left and it’s already very booked up for next year!

It’s an ideal location and property of a high standard to spend a week, lovely social living area, also well appointed en suites to each bedroom.

Situated in a convenient and easily accessible area just outside of Dartmouth it was a great base to tour local attractions and places of interest This is a genuine 5* rating. The spacious accommodation is of an exceptionally high standard and provided a real home from home for us. The owner’s attention to detail when designing, furnishing and equipping the barn was second to none and we look forward to returning. We recommend this accommodation.

The location was ideal for us, as it gave us easy access to the places we wanted to visit. Gail & Phil were very welcoming hosts. On arrival we were greeted with homemade cakes and a cream tea, which after a 7 hour journey was much appreciated. The place was spotless and the space was much bigger than the photographs suggested. Everything about it was top notch. Gail and Phil had thought of everything you could possibly need but still wanted to know if things could be improved. For us it catered for all our needs. Gail is the perfect hostess ensuring our Sainsburys delivery is put away before our arrival as well as leaving a lovely welcome hamper full of delicious Devon produce. There has been no expense spared with regards to the fixtures & fittings of the barn. The location is perfect for getting quickly to the beaches, Dartmouth & other nearby villages. We have chosen to book Butterwell Barn again next year with our family & friends as having holidayed in numerous other high end rentals within the Dartmouth area and the barn remains our firm favourite. We feel very lucky to have found such a fabulous place to stay.

Everything is thought of and the quality of everything is so high. I would say it’s the perfect place to chill, all of our group said how relaxed they felt at Butterwell Barn. Such a warm welcome from the owners and the cream tea was enjoyed by all. . It’s a handy place for places like Salcombe and the Dartmouth park and ride is a short drive down the road which is handy. There are a couple of supermarkets nearby. . I would definitely recommend Butterwell Barn and we hope to visit again.

Everything you expect to be in a holiday home and much much more.

From furniture to china to bath towels, it was all top quality. There was everything you would ever need in the kitchen, plus extras such as eco friendly laundry liquid, dishwasher tablets, coffee, tea bags, milk, oil and if that wasn’t enough, fresh flowers, scones jam and cream and cake! Great outside space and garden area. All fully enclosed and secure for dogs/children. Gail and Phil Bond the owners, were around, very friendly and helpful. Sainsbury’s deliver there too which is convenient. All round excellent accommodation, just wish I could pick up the barn and bring it home as I could easily live there! Many thanks

The Barn is exceptionally well equipped.

Kitchen is great to cook for large groups. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and will certainly return. Watching the lambs gambol in the fields was idyllic.

This property is just perfect for a group of friends to escape for a relaxing break.

The welcome pack on arrival was really thoughtful and the scones were delicious. The quality of the furnishings and all other equipment is top notch. The overall attention to detail from the owners is second to none, they have thought of everything, even down to supplying doggie towels and a special bed for our four legged friend.
