(Lotte Doherty, Jenni Tolchard, Jon Doyle & Holly Doherty)
Family run South Hams based holiday lettings agency, Coast & Country Cottages is thrilled to announce the expansion of their Apprenticeship scheme following the appointment of 17 year old, Holly Doherty. Holly is the third apprentice to join the highly successful apprenticeship programme implemented by Coast & Country Cottages in conjunction with Paignton’s South Devon College.
During her one year apprenticeship, Holly will be given the opportunity to complete an NVQ level 2 in Business and Administration, spending one day a week at South Devon College. Throughout her training at Coast & Country Cottages, Holly will rotate around different departments within the business, gathering invaluable experience and insight into how the growing family owned company operates.
Commenting on the apprenticeship programme, Partner Karen Jones says:“We are delighted to welcome a new apprentice to our valued and expanding teamfollowing the promotion of our two previous apprentices into exciting new roles within our growing company. ’The scheme offers a young person the chance to gather work experience and take on responsibility, whilst also studying for a recognised qualification.’
Jenni Tolchard and Lotte Doherty, Coast & Country Cottages’ two former apprentices, both attained an NVQ level 2 and 3 in Business and Administration and have since advanced within the company into permanent roles. Following the completion of her apprenticeship, Jenni, who joined Coast & Country Cottages in 2009, initially moved into a Sales Administrator role and has since gained promotion to become the New Properties’ Co-ordinator. Similarly, Lotte has thrived at Coast & Country Cottages since joining the team in 2010 and has progressed to become Digital Marketing Assistant.
Jon Doyle, Operations Director added ‘We are very pleased that we are able to support local young people as they choose a career path and to this end we work closely with the local schools and colleges in a number of ways. Lotte recently returned with me to her school to talk to Sixth Formers during their Careers Day. We briefed the students about local employment opportunities in the tourism industry but, most importantly, Lotte spoke to the students about her experiences as an apprentice.’
Both are studying for an NVQ level 3 qualification in Business and Administration, whilst working in the Coast & Country Cottages head office. The apprenticeship is in association with South Devon College; the scheme provides young hopefuls with the opportunity to gather experience, whilst also gaining a recognised qualification.
