1. Bantham, Thurlestone and Hope Cove<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One of the more scenic South Hams\u00a0walks, this stretch of the coastline is dotted with famous scenes that you’ll be sure to recognise. Start at the small village of Bantham<\/a>, home to a fabulous sandy beach with unsurpassed views across to the iconic Burgh Island – a beautiful landmark made all the more famous by novelist Agatha Christie.\u00a0Saunter along the cliff paths and hike across the fields, following the marked trail, and you will arrive at the quaint village of Thurlestone<\/a>. If the view there seems familiar, it might well be because you’ve come across the beautiful, symbolic \u2018Thurlestone Rock\u2019 from a great number of picture postcards.<\/p>\n

Continue along the South West Coast Path to the former smuggler\u2019s haunt of Hope Cove<\/a>, a pretty fishing village where you can enjoy an ice cream on the beach, whilst the dog enjoys a paddle in the surf to cool down.\u00a0 You can also start a number of South Hams\u00a0walks in the village of Hope Cove, heading towards\u00a0Salcombe.<\/p>\n

The 2.75 mile circular mooch from South Sands in Salcombe to Bolt Head<\/a> is one of the easier South Hams walks available to you. Pass the Start Point lighthouse, which is still in use today, before heading to South Hallsands<\/a> to peer down at the ruins of the forgotten village, destroyed by storms in 1917.\u00a0 This is one of the most captivating South Hams walks, particularly popular with history buffs and their four-legged friends!<\/p>\n
