It\u2019s safe to say, however you wish to spend your time at the beaches here, the natural beauty of the golden shores and traditional village charm will effortlessly combine to create lasting memories.<\/p>\n<h3><a name=\"MouthwellSands\"><\/a>Mouthwell Sands<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28639\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/08\/Mouthwell-Sands-Hope-Cove-beaches.jpg\" alt=\"Mouthwell Sands - Hope Cove beaches\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mouthwell Sands is located in Outer Hope, at the northern side of Hope Cove; the nearest beach to the main village car park. Accessed via a steep slipway with a hand rail on one side, be careful if you\u2019re less physically able as it can be slippery. Mouthwell Sands is the smallest cove in the village, and boasts views towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/thurlestone-holiday-homes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thurlestone<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/bigbury-on-sea-south-devon-beach-bible\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bibgury-on-Sea<\/a> and the iconic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/burgh-island-south-devon-beach-bible\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Burgh Island<\/a>. Here you will find a waterfall-like stream that trickles half way along the sandy beach into the sea, which as you can imagine, is popular amongst younger beach-goers who love to build dams and water pools! Particularly popular amongst families, the beach benefits from a seasonal lifeguard service, not to mention an emporium of rockpools and sea life.<\/p>\n<h3><a name=\"HarbourBeach\"><\/a>Harbour Beach<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28637\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/08\/Hope-Cove-beaches-Harbour-Beach-boats.jpg\" alt=\"Hope Cove beaches - Harbour Beach boats\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Harbour Beach is located in Inner Hope, and is the largest sandy inlet in Hope Cove. Popular amongst walkers and dog lovers, the beach benefits from breathtaking views of the rolling cliffs of Bolt Tail, and provides ample space for traditional beach games. You will often find many sailing dinghies and small motor boats moored here in the summer before they head out to sea for ocean adventures. In the winter, we recommend watching the high sea waves crash against the sea wall, providing quite a spectacle. However, our top thing to do at Harbour Beach is to watch the fishermen haul their catch on the beach, with huge spider crabs and lobster \u2013 what better way to soak up the heritage of this traditional fishing village!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a name=\"dog\"><\/a>Which Hope Cove beaches are dog-friendly?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Harbour beach<\/strong> is dog-friendly all year round. This favoured activity is great fun for kids and can also be a fantastic, interactive way to learn! Just remember, try not to disturb any wildlife that you find. If you really want to get your creative juices flowing, why not make a sand sculpture? Hunt for shells and sea glass to add to your creation for a decorative finishing touch.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Wildlife spotting<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The beaches at Hope Cove are thriving with wildlife. See if you can spot the enormous compass jellyfish that bob in the sea off the beach, a great natural display! Both trails offer different walking experiences, and we highly recommend exploring both trails if you\u2019re able to. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/hope-cove-to-salcombe-walk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hope Cove to Salcombe walk<\/a> (8.5 miles) is moderately challenging, however the views are incredible and definitely worth it! Here are three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/south-devon-beach-bible\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">South Devon beaches<\/a>, close to Mouthwell Sands and Harbour Beach:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/soar-mill-cove\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Soar Mill Cove<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/08\/Soar-Mill-Cove-is-near-the-Hope-Cove-beaches.jpg\" alt=\"Soar Mill Cove is near the Hope Cove beaches\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Inaccessible by car, Soar Mill Cove is one of South Devon\u2019s best kept secret beaches that looks like something out of an Enid Blyton book. With no signal, this is the perfect place to venture to for a digital detox, away from the crowds during the peak season.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/south-milton-sands-beach-bible\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>South Milton Sands<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28643\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/08\/South-Milton-Sands-near-Hope-Cove-beaches.jpg\" alt=\"South Milton Sands near Hope Cove beaches\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Approximately a 20 minute walk along the South West Coast Path from Hope Cove towards Thurlestone is South Milton Sands, a popular beach that has excellent facilities, including seasonal watersport hire and a bustling caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/thurlestone-beach-south-devon-beach-bible\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thurlestone Beach<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-28644\" src=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/08\/Thurlestone-Beach-is-close-to-both-Hope-Cove-Beaches.jpg\" alt=\"Thurlestone Beach is close to both Hope Cove Beaches\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thurlestone Beach is made up of two beaches, Leas Foot and Thurlestone Sands. The golden wave-lashed sands is the perfect natural playground, so it\u2019s no wonder that the beach is popular for wild swimmers, bodyboarders, wind surfers and paddleboarders. Similarly to the beaches at Hope Cove, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/thurlestone-holiday-homes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thurlestone<\/a> is a mecca for rockpooling.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a name=\"location\"><\/a>Location and access<\/h2>\n<p>Nestled between the bracken-clad clifftops of Bolt Tail and the sandy shores of South Milton, approximately a 15 minute car journey from the boutique harbour town of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/salcombe.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Salcombe<\/a>, Hope Cove is tucked away in the parish of South Huish.
