The powerful waves can be a draw, particularly for experienced surfers, but combined with the rocky seabed it can be quite a hazardous spot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Being a fairly exposed beach and point break, the surf is relatively inconsistent, with winter being the optimum time of year for surfing here. A perfect excuse for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/winter-short-breaks.html\">winter short break<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That being said, when the conditions are right it delivers a powerful and playful wave that\u2019s popular amongst both local residents and visitors alike.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><a name=\"mothecombe\"><\/a>Mothecombe Beach<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">At the mouth of the River Erme, you will find Mothecombe Beach. This unspoilt, sandy spot is a popular lesser known surfing bolthole. The waves are fun and gentle, breaking on both the left and right hand side, providing plenty of space for those learning and needing a slightly wider berth!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">There are no lifeguards, so do be careful and always surf within your abilities.
