At its heart are 21 recipes from local chefs like Mitch Tonks and Jane Baxter alongside top regional brands including Riverford Organic Farmers, the South Devon Chilli Farm, the Well Hung Meat Company and Tideford Organics.<\/p>\n<p>Now that the cookbook is available to download, all that remains is to enjoy its mouth-watering contents. The proof of the pudding \u2013 or in this case, the vegetable tart \u2013 is in the eating, so three of us got together to try out one of the featured recipes from our\u00a0cookbook.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/Tart-3-930x698.jpeg\" alt=\"tart-3\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We can\u2019t resist a little bit of competition so we decided on a cook-off! The recipe is for a vegetarian dish provided by Tideford Organics. It looked delicious and seemed simple enough, making it the perfect candidate for our challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Get the full recipe from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/downloads\">the South Devon Cookbook<\/a> here.<\/p>\n<p>In need of a stylish and spacious kitchen that would be fitting for this delicious dish, we settled on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/cottage-details\/4salch\/\">Driftwood (sleeps 8)<\/a>, a stunning detached property with elevated views over Salcombe and the Kingsbridge Estuary.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/driftwood-kitchen.jpg\" alt=\"driftwood-kitchen\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>The participants<\/h2>\n<p>The three team members to take part were:<\/p>\n<h3>Emily<\/h3>\n<p>Emily doesn\u2019t consider herself much of a cook, confessing that she\u2019s still largely dependent on the same meals she relied on as a student, with beans on toast and jacket potatoes still featuring heavily in her diet!<\/p>\n<h3>Lucy<\/h3>\n<p>As a cook, Lucy likes to improvise, with cr\u00e8me fra\u00eeche\u00a0and Greek yoghurt two of her favourite go-to ingredients for rustled up meals. Being a busy mum \u2013 not to mention a puppy owner \u2013 she likes to make lots of stir fries and other tasty meals that don\u2019t take an age to prepare.<\/p>\n<h3>Ross<\/h3>\n<p>Ross enjoys experimenting with and adding to recipes until they bear little resemblance to the original dish. He enjoys baking most of all, especially cakes, scones and most things involving pastry. What he lacks in finesse, he makes up with enthusiasm!<\/p>\n<h2>Making Tideford\u2019s tasty tart<\/h2>\n<p>With our Tideford Organics Fresh Miso Paste, ready-to-roll puff pastry and all these fresh vegetables, we rolled up our sleeves and got started.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/ingredients-930x571.jpg\" alt=\"ingredients\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The cooking began\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/em-and-lucy-cooking-2-930x618.jpg\" alt=\"em-and-lucy-cooking-2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/ross-cooking-930x698.jpg\" alt=\"ross-cooking\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The vegetables were cut, glazed with the miso paste and put into the oven to roast while we prepared our puff pastry.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/roasted-veg-930x517.jpg\" alt=\"roasted-veg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The filling was added to the pastry bases and soon they were all ready for the oven.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/filling-the-pastry-930x698.jpg\" alt=\"filling-the-pastry\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Each had its own little twist:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lucy\u2019s (top in the image below) was topped with feta cheese and rosemary.<\/li>\n<li>Emily\u2019s (middle) was embellished with chunks of\u00a0mozzarella.<\/li>\n<li>Ross\u2019 (bottom) contained\u00a0feta and fennel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/3-uncooked-tarts-930x608.jpg\" alt=\"3-uncooked-tarts\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>The results<\/h2>\n<p>When the tarts\u00a0came out of the oven, we were all pleased with our efforts\u00a0\u2013 no need for any plan B\u2019s for dinner that evening!<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/three-participants.png\" alt=\"three-participants\" width=\"923\" height=\"192\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From left to right, here are Emily&#8217;s, Ross&#8217; and Lucy&#8217;s tarts.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/3-tarts-930x403.jpg\" alt=\"3-tarts\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And now from top to bottom, you can see Emily&#8217;s, Ross&#8217; and Lucy&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/10\/3-tarts-vertical.jpg-930x517.jpg\" alt=\"3-tarts-vertical-jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So, which is most mouth-watering to you?
