From a full English breakfast at a farm shop to croissants at a continental caf\u00e9, you\u2019re always in easy reach of a tempting morning menu.<\/p>\n<p>From the dozens of caf\u00e9s and restaurants serving fantastic breakfasts in South Devon, our locally-based team has chosen just seven of our favourites.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Caf\u00e9 Alf Resco (Dartmouth)<\/h2>\n<p>In our \u2018Best caf\u00e9 in Dartmouth\u2019 poll, Caf\u00e9 Alf Resco currently has a very healthy lead with just under 50% of the vote \u2013 testament to the popularity of this historic town\u2019s breakfast specialist. The morning menu has a wide range of options, but few can resist Alf\u2019s Full Breakfast, which is this caf\u00e9\u2019s take on the classic English fry-up. (pictured above)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>2. Stokeley Farm Shop Caf\u00e9 (Stokeley Barton, <a href=\"\/blog\/category\/south-devon\/stokenham-village-guide\/\">Stokenham<\/a>)<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/12\/Stokeley-5-1-930x408.jpg\" alt=\"An English breakfast at Stokeley Farm Shop\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Stokeley\u2019s location on the edge of Start Bay makes it the perfect place to head either before or after a morning beachside stroll. You can choose from cooked breakfasts, continental options and a healthy meal of muesli with milk or yoghurt and fresh fruit. The hearty Farmers\u2019 Breakfast is a sure way to set yourself up for the day, with two sausages, bacon, black pudding, hash browns, eggs, mushrooms, beans and toast.<\/p>\n<h2>3. The Winking Prawn (North Sands, Salcombe)<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2013\/09\/the-winking-prawn-930x620.jpg\" alt=\"The Winking Prawn in Salcombe\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Right by North Sands in Salcombe, the Winking Prawn is a shabby chic beach caf\u00e9 and restaurant with a stylish interior and a large outdoor area with lovely views. For breakfast, the Winking Prawn operates a buffet system. Simply choose how you want your eggs and then fill your own plate with sausages, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and more from the buffet table. Alternatively, you can order a \u2018fishy breakfast\u2019 of smoked salmon or kippers, or perhaps make your own breakfast butty.<\/p>\n<h2>4. The South Devon Chilli Farm<\/h2>\n<p>As well as a renowned producer of chillies and chilli-infused products, whose fans include celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, the South Devon Chilli Farm is also top local attraction for foodies. Based on the outskirts of Loddiswell, the Chilli Farm has a show tunnel and an extensively stocked gift shop, and offers seasonal activities such as chilli-growing workshops, guided tours and a tasting challenge. The colourful caf\u00e9 is a great place to to sample the produce, and learn how chillies can be used in traditional and innovative ways, with chilli teas being a favourite amongst our locally-based team.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"callout\"><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/12\/south-devon-chilli-farm-square.jpg\" \/>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southdevonchillifarm.co.uk\">South Devon Chilli Farm<\/a> is now open for breakfast (all day from 10 am), with a menu including chilli scrambled eggs, their own take on <em>huevos rancheros<\/em>. Avon Mill (Loddiswell)<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/05\/avon-mill-garden-centre-930x592.jpg\" alt=\"Avon Mill Garden Centre near Loddiswell\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Breakfast in the peaceful rural setting of Avon Mill Garden Centre is an unbeatable way to start the day. There\u2019s a classic English breakfast option, a veggie alternative and even a \u2018paleo\u2019 breakfast. Sunday brunch at Avon Mill is particularly appetising, with delicious food, soothing music and newspapers supplied. Its location on the edge of the village of Loddiswell means it\u2019s in the perfect spot to combine brunch with a walk through the woods.<\/p>\n<h2>6. Garden Time (near Dartmouth on the A3122)<\/h2>\n<p>Being just a few miles from Dartmouth and conveniently located for guests at Hillfield Village, it\u2019s always tempting to pull off the A3122 into Garden Time for a tasty breakfast, homemade snack or just a coffee at the Glasshouse Caf\u00e9. Using a lot of their own produce means freshness and quality are assured.<\/p>\n<h2>7. Venus Caf\u00e9 (Blackpool Sands near Dartmouth)<\/h2>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2016\/12\/venus-at-blackpool-sands-930x617.jpg\" alt=\"Venus Cafe at Blackpool Sands\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Blackpool Sands is a beach that\u2019s loved by locals and holidaymakers alike. A compact cove of fine shingle, it sits at the northern tip of Start Bay, and has fantastic facilities down to the two sandpits provided for kids. The Venus Caf\u00e9 and Takeaway at Blackpool Sands is popular even during the winter when the beach is quiet, such is its reputation for quality.
