For many people, Dartmouth calls to mind a strong sense of history and heritage. We think of the town\u2019s naval connection, its glorious old buildings and the taste of yesteryear you can enjoy in various ways, whether that\u2019s with a real ale at the 14th century Cherub Inn, fish and chips on the harbour or a box of handmade clotted cream fudge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Much as we love these traditional aspects of life in Dartmouth and South Devon, it\u2019s nice to have some variety too. Fortunately, when it comes to a night out, these fantastic Dartmouth wine bars offer something different from the old cob walls and oak beams you find in its cosy inns.<\/p>\n

1. Bellini\u2019s Bar<\/h2>\n

The stylish d\u00e9cor, subdued lighting and air of sophistication at Bellini\u2019s wouldn\u2019t be out of place in London or any other major city. But the friendliness of the, attentive and knowledgeable waiting staff will quickly remind you you\u2019re in South Devon after all!<\/p>\n

Owner and proud \u2018Dartmouth girl\u2019 Jayne Birbeck\u2019s mission with Bellini\u2019s Bar was to create a different kind of night spot for the town.<\/p>\n

Bellini\u2019s is a cocktail and wine bar that\u2019s ideal for pre- or post-dinner drinks, thanks to its large cocktail selection (there are 59 on the menu!) and extensive range of champagnes and other tipples.<\/p>\n

There are also regular club nights put on by visiting DJs. These usually take place on the last Saturday of the month. Look out for live music too, which tends to appear every six weeks or so.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why not try the house speciality, the \u2018Bellini Cocktail\u2019 during your next night out in Dartmouth?<\/p>\n

2. Joe\u2019s Bar at the Seahorse<\/h2>\n

An adjunct to Mitch Tonks\u2019 multi-award-winning Seahorse restaurant, Joe\u2019s Bar is Dartmouth\u2019s newest wine bar. Head down the long corridor to Joe\u2019s after a special meal at the Seahorse, or alternatively pop in for a hand-picked wine or other tipple as you enjoy a small plate prepared by Mitch\u2019s renowned team.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoes\u2019 Bar was inspired by those little bars in Venice where you enjoy an aperitivo like a negroni or Bellini before supper or a digestif straight after. That’s what we have recreated right here in Dartmouth at The Seahorse! It\u2019s a snug little bar with a standing room and seats for about 14, full of warmth with its own door in the side street and a direct link through to the Seahorse restaurant. We\u2019re working on some great bespoke spirits for the bar right now, more soon!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

3. Brown\u2019s Bar<\/h2>\n

A little way up Victoria Road, a short walk from Dartmouth\u2019s waterfront, you\u2019ll find Brown\u2019s Kitchen Bar, a stylish venue that\u2019s well worth a visit, whether that\u2019s for a lunchtime coffee, a romantic dinner or a lively evening with friends. There are three more-or-less separate rooms on the ground floor, all with their own distinct feel.<\/p>\n

The intended atmosphere is more of a wine bar than a restaurant, with a short seasonal menu emphasising casual classics, including tapas from Tuesday to Saturday. Events are often held on Thursdays, and children are welcome.<\/a><\/p>\n

With its welcoming pubs<\/a>, rustic caf\u00e9s<\/a> and varied restaurants<\/a>, Dartmouth makes a great holiday destination for those looking for a relaxed base to enjoy quality time with their friends or loved ones.
