The railway has long gone, but it left many marks on the landscape, including a bridge that makes this walk possible and the level riverside trail you\u2019ll follow on your way back to the village.<\/p>\n<p>At under four miles, it\u2019s not a long walk but the terrain is challenging in places, so sturdy footwear is recommended.<\/p>\n<h2>At a glance<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Distance<\/strong>: 3.5 miles<\/li>\n<li><strong>Views<\/strong>: Beautiful scenery, mainy forest and river, with some open countryside.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Terrain<\/strong>: Some road, tracks, uneven steps, some challenging stretches with obstacles (see below), one steep hill at the end.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Circular?<\/strong> Yes<\/li>\n<li><strong>Starting point<\/strong>: Loddiswell \u2013 for more information, including directions, see our <a href=\"\/blog\/category\/south-devon\/loddiswell-south-devon-village-guide\/\">Loddiswell village guide<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step-by-step<\/h2>\n<p>Starting at Loddiswell Square (by the Post Office), walk towards the church.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/06\/1-loddiswell-square-930x618.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr class=\"fancy-divider\" \/>\n<p>Follow the road to the left of the Church.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/06\/2-loddiswell-church-930x618.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr class=\"fancy-divider\" \/>\n<p>The road bends left and then right uphill.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/06\/2a-loddiswell-towards-ham-butts-930x618.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr class=\"fancy-divider\" \/>\n<p>Follow the road downhill towards Ham Butts farm.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/06\/3-loddiswell-ham-butts-930x618.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr class=\"fancy-divider\" \/>\n<p>At the entrance to Ham Butts farm, turn right, following the Public Footpath sign.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/06\/4-loddiswell-turning-at-ham-butts-farm-930x571.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr class=\"fancy-divider\" \/>\n<p>Follow the path to the left until you reach a footbridge on your left. Cross it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/06\/5-loddiswell-bridge-to-riverside-path-930x618.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr class=\"fancy-divider\" \/>\n<p>Continue along the path to your right, alongside the river.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/06\/6-loddiswell-riverside-path-930x618.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr class=\"fancy-divider\" \/>\n<p>Be careful along this stretch, you\u2019ll find a few obstacles along the path. You\u2019ll come to the old railway bridge. When you reach the road, turn right down the hill which bends right to the bridge.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/06\/14-loddiswell-end-of-riverside-pathjpg-930x634.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr class=\"fancy-divider\" \/>\n<p>Go under the bridge.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/06\/15-loddiswell-under-the-bridge-930x548.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr class=\"fancy-divider\" \/>\n<p>To avoid walking on the road, take the footpath on your right (less than a hundred yards past the bridge).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/06\/16-loddiswell-footpath-to-avon-milljpg-930x618.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<hr class=\"fancy-divider\" \/>\n<p>At the end of the field you\u2019ll come to a bridge.
