The daffodils are blooming, the lambs are bouncing and the midday sun has a warmth to it that is familiar with summer – spring in South Devon is in full swing! South West Coast Path spring walks<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u2018There\u2019s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes\u2019, so come rain or shine, wrap up warm, and head outside to explore. One of the best things about South Devon is that you don\u2019t have to venture too far before you find yourselves somewhere rather special, be it by the coast, in the countryside or ambling along beautiful estuaries. Here are just three of our favourite South West Coast Path spring walks:<\/p>\n

Torcross to Beesands<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Torcross<\/a>\u00a0is a great location for all the family, and best of all, you have a variety of walks to choose from. One of our favourite routes treads the path to the beach of\u00a0Beesands<\/a>, and enjoys stunning coastal views. Expect to find both birdsong and fauna in abundance, and if you\u2019re lucky, you may even spot dolphins. For a walk a little more sheltered, follow the gentle path around the edge of Slapton Ley, a natural freshwater lake with a rich and varied wildlife. Feed the ducks at the Ley and keep an eye out for the resident otter, and afterward skim stones along the shore, scoot the Torcross promenade and feast on fish and chips from the\u00a0Start Bay Inn<\/a>\u00a0pub.<\/p>\n

Mattiscombe Beach<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The walk from Start Point carpark down to Mattiscombe Beach<\/a>\u00a0is short, steep, and wonderfully sweet. Throughout the months of March, April and May it is peppered with spring blooms and the farmland fields are a hive of activity for both lambs and calves. Mattiscombe Beach is one of South Devon\u2019s most secluded spots, and as such, it is a paradise for wildlife – grey seals often frequent here, and in the spring season you may be lucky enough to see one or two pups with them. A patchwork of sand and craggy rocks that are exposed at low tide, this is a great spot for all the family, including canine companions, who are welcome year round.<\/p>\n

\"Harbour<\/p>\n

South Milton Sands to Hope Cove<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Whilst this stretch of the South West Coastal Path is relatively relaxed and an easy walk, it provides a full day out given the breadth of things to do at either end. You can set off from either direction \u2013 both South Milton Sands<\/a>\u00a0and Hope Cove have large car parks and also, both have the promise of a pub or beach caf\u00e9 at the end. The walk leads you along sheer cliffs and takes in panoramic views of the bay, and the iconic Thurlestone Rock. If you\u2019re feeling really brave, why not plunge into the fresh spring sea!<\/p>\n

The Dart Valley Cycleway, otherwise known as the Totnes to Sharpham<\/a> cycle path, is one of the regions most popular routes should you want to spend your days cycling in South Devon. A hilly riverside cycle path that winds through open farmland, the route boasts great views outward of the River Dart, and on the return journey, also Dartmoor! After just three miles, you\u2019ll reach the Sharpham Estate Vineyard<\/a>\u00a0and Rosie\u2019s Cafe, where you can enjoy a cold glass of Sharpham wine, and a locally-sourced cheese board.<\/p>\n
