Favoured by many locals and visitors to the Salcombe area, this walk offers an exhilarating way\u00a0to enjoy\u00a0spectacular views from the South West Coast Path. The dramatic, rugged coastline contrasts with the\u00a0gentle South Hams hills to create an unforgettable backdrop to your walk. There are many viewpoints, picnic spots and eateries to stop at along the way.<\/p>\n<p>This is a linear route, so either be prepared for the hike back or park a car at the start and one at the finish line, or arrange transport back to Hope Cove. Other than a couple of steep climbs, this is a relatively gentle walk. The views over the sea are second to none and there are plenty of coves to explore and little detours you can take off the path, including one where you can see the remains of an old Iron Age fort at Hope Cove.<\/p>\n<p>Showcasing South Devon\u2019s clear turquoise waters from start to finish, this coastal walk is ideal for nature lovers with spots known for wild ponies, pretty hidden beaches and regional wildlife. From Inner Hope, take the coast path steps near the Lifeboat station which will lead up a steep hill towards Bolt Tail.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Resized-Hope-Cove.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/03\/Resized-Hope-Cove-930x480.jpg\" alt=\"Hope Cove to Salcombe Walk\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Once you\u2019ve reached Bolberry Down, stop for refreshments at <a href=\"http:\/\/oceanreachholidays.co.uk\/oceans-restaurant-bar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ocean Reach<\/a> bar and restaurant or continue along the coast path for just over a mile until you reach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/blog\/soar-mill-cove\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Soar Mill Cove<\/a>, a much-loved local beauty spot. From Soar Mill Cove, cross the bridge at the top of the beach and follow signs towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/bolt-head-apartments.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bolt Head<\/a> and Salcombe.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/03\/IMG_6446.jpg\" alt=\"Hope Cove to Salcombe Walk\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>6. Along this trail, you will be able to see some beautiful secluded coves when the tide is out. The coast path continues to follow the dramatic cliffs to Starehole Bay, where you will be spoilt with stunning sea views.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/03\/3-STAREHOLE-BAY-3_edited-1-copy.jpg\" alt=\"Hope Cove to Salcombe Walk\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>8. As you follow the path, the Salcombe Estuary will come into sight boasting views across the water towards Gara Rock on the other side.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/IMG_6485-resized.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/03\/IMG_6485-resized-930x480.jpg\" alt=\"Hope Cove to Salcombe Walk\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>9. Follow the path for around a mile until you reach the National Trust sign for Bolt Head. From here, you can glimpse the sandy beaches at East Portlemouth through the trees.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/IMG_2180-resized.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/03\/IMG_2180-resized-930x480.jpg\" alt=\"Hope Cove to Salcombe Walk\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>10. Eventually you will reach the road which leads downhill towards South Sands. Before continuing to the beach, we would recommend visiting the National Trust property <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/overbecks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Overbecks<\/a>, home to a fascinating collection of art and artefacts that were once owned by the scientist and inventor, Otto Overbeck.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/overbecks-resized.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/03\/overbecks-resized-930x480.jpg\" alt=\"Hope Cove to Salcombe Walk\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>11. Stop at South Sands to enjoy the beach, or continue along the road to North Sands, where you can visit the fantastic Winking Prawn restaurant for a hot chocolate or an ice cream, located just a stone\u2019s throw from the sand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Resized-WInking-Prawn.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/03\/Resized-WInking-Prawn-930x480.jpg\" alt=\"Hope Cove to Salcombe Walk\" width=\"930\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>12. The final stretch of this walk is from North Sands beach to Salcombe town centre, which follows the road along the estuary for just under a mile (around 15 minutes\u2019 walk).
