Surrounded by ancient woodland and creeks, Noss nestles into the southern side of the Yealm estuary. Adjacent, you will find the larger village of Newton Ferrers, and the twin villages form the civil parish of \u2018Newton and Noss\u2019. Divided by a creek of the River Yealm, the estuary provides a perfectly undisturbed natural harbour that enjoys thriving wildlife, and is a popular playground for yachts, sailboats and seafarers alike. Boasting white-washed cottages that line the waters edge, a waterfront pub and a thriving sailing club, it comes as no surprise that when you holiday in the parish, you find yourself yo-yoing between the two villages. Strenuous, but rewarding, this three hour hike is well worth the effort, but for those that aren\u2019t feeling quite so adventurous, not to worry, there are several shorter routes to be enjoyed!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Newton Wood Circular, Newton Ferrers<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A popular circular route, starting its journey in Newton Ferrers at the Yealm Steps. Navigating first through the residential area of Court Wood Road, this walking route guides you towards Shallowford Creek, and into the enchanting Newton Wood. During the summer months there is also a BBQ on the terrace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coastandcountry.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/nossmayo4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2018\/05\/nossmayo4.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><b>Beaches near Noss Mayo<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Cellar Beach<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just a short walk from Noss Mayo (around 30 &#8211; 40 minutes to reach by foot) you will find the cove of Cellar Beach, a small pebble and sand beach on the shore of the Yealm estuary. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Known for being a little bit off the beaten track, it is perfect if you prefer not be surrounded by large groups of holiday makers. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The final path to the beach is quite steep and rocky, so it\u2019s best suited to confident walkers, with the closest parking and facilities remaining at Noss Mayo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Warren Beach\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Found just off the coastal path, this secluded pebble beach is revealed at low tide and is a popular place to spot dolphins, porpoises and seals. The path is<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> very<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> steep and is only recommended for agile walkers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In South Devon, we have some of the best beaches in the country, right on our doorstep. Be warned, part of the parking is underwater at high tide, so be sure to check tide times ahead of parking here (cars have previously been flooded on an incoming tide!).
