“Although not too bad, the level of cleanliness of the cottage does need some attention, but the lovely views and the kind welcome we received made up for that.”

“An absolutely fabulous week spent in Devon.  Hope Cottage is so comfortable and relaxing and Sarah and David made us all feel really welcome.  The hard work which has been put into the garden is there for all to see - it's very lush and there are so many interesting plants to see, keep up the good work.  The week has gone far to quickly and we certainly will pass on to you our love and thanks for all that we have enjoyed, including warm and friendly chats in the garden.  Take care, would certainly wish to come back to your wonderful home.  Stunning.”

“Thank you for ordering some Spring sunshine for us this week.  We've enjoyed some delightful countryside walks in wellies.  Recommend a walk from Woodleigh towards Watkins Woods.  The daffs and primroses are starting to appear.  The cottage is as cosy and lovely as ever and great to see you as always too.”

“Really wonderful to be back again, thank you as always for being so welcoming and finding so many jobs in the garden for the kids - we've never seen them muddier or happier.  Visited some old favourites: North Sands, The Winking Prawn, The Oyster Shack, Avon Mill Garden Centre and a new favourite to our list - Dartmoor Zoo.  Garden is looking even more amazing than ever and is testament to your incredible hard work.  None of us are ready to leave.  Thank you so much again.”

“What a wonderfully peaceful and restful two weeks we've enjoyed, thank you both.  We have enjoyed time with Granny and Grandpa.  The cottage has been very comfortable and we are always impressed with the beautiful garden that you have created.  Great to see the garage completed too.  Highlights of our time here - Dartmouth Zoo (the inspiration for the film 'We Bought A Zoo'), Chagford on Dartmoor, Totnes on market day (Friday) and barbequed trout from the fishmongers in Kingsbridge.  Looking forward to seeing you again soon.”

“The holiday started well with a lovely welcome pack from Sarah and David.  The weather has been amazing so we've done very little except visit the beach.  Followed a recommendation from an earlier visitor and went to the White Hart in Modbury for a meal.  Very good - will definitely go back next year - but book if you want a table on Friday.  Gardens are looking great and love the new garage.  This is such a lovely location and we've had a really restful week.  Thanks Sarah and David for welcoming us so warmly.”

“Thanks for another great week Sarah and David.  The kids loved Bantham and the garden - we could have stayed at the beach all week had the weather allowed.  Keep up the good work in the garden.  Hopefully see you again soon.”

“We have had a wonderful week at Hope Cottage.  What a lovely place, we will be back.  It has been a busy week with our two small boys.  Visits to South Sands beach at Salcombe and trips on the ferry.  South Milton Sands and the lovely Beach House cafe for lunch and dinner.  Bantham beach for sand castle building (great sand).  Dartmouth Castle and Blackpool Sands (a pebble beach) on the way home.  A very special week with our family and one we will remember fondly.”

“We had a lovely week here - terrific views, very comfortable, the cottage is extremely well resourced with everything you might need.  Lovely days out at Lydford Gorge - challenging adventure, beautiful scenery, well worth the drive up there.  Also, we drove to Salcombe and Bigbury On Sea (twice for the latter).  We did lots of walking around Burgh Island, Challaborough, Ringmore and from Hope Cove to Thurlestone and the other end up to the Bolt Head Tail.  Fantastic views at the latter place in the early evening.  As guests recommended, we too tried The White Hart in Modbury which was so good that we booked there for the following evening as well.  Superb fish dinners there and very cosy and welcoming (also a well in the floor of the restaurant).  David and Sarah, thank you both for your warm welcome and for letting us explore your relaxing and interesting gardens and grounds - an added bonus.  Very good beaches at South Milton and Bigbury On Sea.  The Bay View Cafe at Bigbury is excellent for seafood - we all enjoyed the cod and chips but the tea we have to say, was awful.  Thanks for letting us borrow the maps for working out our way around the area.  Would definitely recommend this accommodation to our friends and family.  Thank you very much for making us feel so welcome and for a great place to completely chill out in.”

“Thanks for a great fortnight in your lovely garden - it is a magical spot.  We have had some lovely days out at beaches.  Ayrmer Cove at low tide, Bigbury and paddling at Burgh Island, body boarding at Bantham, Blackpool Sands and Hope Cove.  Some good short walks to Bolt Tail from Hove Cove; around Start Point and up to the lighthouse; across on the ferry from Salcombe to East Portlemouth and then around to the cafe at Gara Rock - fab views.  We also did Overbecks and Greenway NT Gardens via the ferry from East Dittisham.  Lots of ice cream has been sampled and awesome food at The White Hart in Modbury, Hope and Anchor in Hope Cove (and great sea views) and the Mexican in Kingsbridge.  Dartmouth and Salcombe were great on windy days and we did tenpin bowling and a wander round Plymouth on the really wet day.”

“Many thanks for a very welcoming and enjoyable stay.  The cottage is very comfortable and set in such a lovely spot.  The weather has been very kind and has allowed us many happy days at the beaches of Hope Cove, Bigbury, Thurlestone and Blackpool Sands.  Our boys have enjoyed crabbing whilst Mum enjoyed the shops at Salcombe and Dartmouth.  We also spent some time on Dartmoor and the waterpark.  Lots of BBQ's on our return to the cottage in the evenings.  A very relaxing family holiday.”

“Hope Cottage is bright, airy and very well equipped.  The Owners are most welcoming and helpful - thanks to the good weather, we were able to visit all the lovely local places, i.e. a coastal walk from Hallsands to Start Point, the lovely town of Kingsbridge with its shops and restaurants.  The beautiful towns of Totnes and Dartmouth and the surrounding villages of Tuckenhay, Slapton and Blackpool Sands and many more.  A very good restaurant / pub is The Start Bay Inn at Torcross - excellent fish and chips.  And The White Hart Hotel in Modbury - great food.”
