“We contacted coast and country before our arrival to enquire if christmas decorations would be in the property and we were told that they would be and I'm sure you will agree it would be expected.”
On our arrival it was very disapointing to only find a very small tree about 1.5 foot tall. We have used coast and country along with other holiday company and always found that decorations have been as expected. If your answer is its the owners responsibiliity to put up decorations then surely as a companly we should have been informed that the proprty really looked no different than at any other time of the year and feel that its the companys role to inform us that decorations were not as expected after a phone call to enquire about this.

I know the view isn't as good in the summer when all the trees are in full bloom but I'd still go back ! The house has a lovely relaxing atmosphere as the colours and furnishings are so calming. I thought it was excellent value for money. Only thing missing for us was an outside tap to rinse off sandy feet !

“The property has a great location with fantastic views and a short walk into Salcombe (though a bit steep for older feet or those pushing a buggy!”
). Really well presented with all the home comforts. A real plus to have off-road parking for 2 cars as well. Only minor point was that it didn't feel very clean on first entering. The kitchen and bathrooms has been cleaned but some surfaces in other rooms were a little dusty and there were a lot of cobwebs. I'm not sure the carpet had been hoovered either as I got out of bed and stepped on a dried up contact lens presumably from a previous tenant. It's a minor gripe though as we really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if heading to Salcombe.

“Firstly the issues: problems with the dishwasher and boiler have already been documented above although the timer on the boiler took some time to get used to even when the boiler was working.”
Similarly, the washer/dryer was aproblem. It would probably be wiser to equip a holiday home withn a more basic model as the one provided proved very difficult to work. We never succeeded in getting it to just dry. More minor issues include the bath; the plug release knob didn't work. it needed to be reattached to the spindle and we had to take the plug out using out finger and thumb nails. The master bedroom sported a 5'6" bed which was luxuriously spacious but the fitted sheet and mattress cover were too small and I woke up nearly every morning with one leg directly on the mattress and scrunched-up sheet/cover underneath me.. On a final note, the wine glasses provided were frighteningly tall and slender. We were scared to use them as they seemed so likely to break. i think you may need to review the way this home is equipped in a more fit-for-purpose way. None of this detracts from the fact that Sunnylodge is a beautiful house. We had a lovely holiday there. Thank you.

The walk up/down the hill into town certainly keeps you fit, but the terrace is a real sun trap and we enjoyed spending a lot of time at the house. Fantastic for a dog too, as there is a walk just opposite through the trees for them and the whole outside terrace area is self contained too.

Although it is disappointing to hear that the property was not thoroughly cleaned before your arrival and that the shrubs around terrace were overgrown. Sunnylodge is a traditional semi-detached town house beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished throughout.
The property offers modern, well equipped holiday accommodation for families or couples, and has lovely views across the estuary through an area of protected woodland. The ground floor features oak flooring throughout, with carpet on the stairs, landing and bedrooms.
The ground floor has a large entrance hallway leading into a light and bright lounge area.
A flight of stone steps leads up from the driveway to the front door.
The lounge area has a large corner sofa, widescreen TV, DVD and sliding doors out to the terrace.
There is a dining table and six comfortable wicker dining chairs.
The room extends into the kitchen.
Very modern, stylish and well equipped with fitted units, glass splash-back, gas hob and oven, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing/dryer machine.

and wash-hand basin. There are three bedrooms - all on the upper level.
The master bedroom has a super-King size bed, fitted wardrobes, chest of drawers, and a luxurious, fully tiled en suite shower room with power shower, wash-hand basin, w.c.

The second bedroom has a King-size bed and fitted wardrobes, whilst the third bedroom has twin 3' single beds.

In addition there are two other small terraces, the upper one being a sun terrace with loungers.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
