The property

Resting in the charming hamlet of Capton where thatched cottages and winding streets are commonplace, is this traditional mid-terrace dwelling, Forge cottage.

Retaining its rustic and traditional style, expect to find original timber beams, bespoke furnishings and a homely atmosphere, sleeping two adults and two children it’s perfect for a tranquil family holiday to Devon.

Take in the pretty exterior of this pale green cottage with pastel blue windows and a neighbouring thatched roof cottage, before stepping back in time through the stable door.

Be welcomed into the cottage kitchen to find the essentials for home cooking, an electric oven, hob and a fridge with freezer box, amidst the old wooden sideboard, shelves and worktops, whilst a long dining table with chairs and a bench seat rest in the corner.

Take a step up into the sitting room, passing the windows adorned with quaint, vintage shutters, and relax on one of the two armchairs or the sofa while the woodburning stove that rests perfectly within the fireplace warms you as you enjoy watching TV.

Climb the bespoke wooden stairs up to the first floor, passing the vintage metal signs decorating the walls beneath the skylight, before coming to the first bedroom boasting a king-size bed and unique wooden storage shelves and hanging space, along with a cute reading corner home to an armchair.

A stair ladder in here and on the landing, the second now converted to a book shelf, leads up to the second floor which is prohibited to guests due to the steep nature of the steps, however they still provide charming features to this already quirky dwelling.

Completing the first floor is the lovely children's bunk room with fitted bunk beds, shelves for storage and a pretty armchair, along with the wooden panelled family bathroom boasting a bath, separated shower and an unusual novelty of a 'gentleman's toilet'.

Mornings and evenings can be spent soaking up the warm weather in your private south facing paved garden opposite the cottage, with furniture for alfresco dining whilst the linhay next to the off-road parking space provides excellent storage for bikes, kayaks and outdoor gear!

The pretty village of Capton is a tranquil base for your South Hams adventures, with the lovely village of Dittisham providing the nearest village store for all your essentials, along with The Red Lion Inn, Anchorside Café and its own FBI, the pink Ferry Boat Inn, all offering excellent watering holes and delicious food.

Enjoy an exciting day out with your family at Woodland's Family Theme Fark, just under three miles away, where rides and attractions await you, along with indoor and outdoor play areas and a fantastic farm zoo with cute meerkats and even falconry displays!

Dittisham is a picturesque village surrounded by rolling countryside, located on the banks of the River Dart in the South Hams. Wander along the quiet streets lined with quaint, stone cottages and lush gardens, until you reach the waterfront. Dittisham’s quayside is often regarded as the hub of village activity. Stop at the Anchorside Café for a spot of breakfast – while taking in the fantastic river views. Try your hand at some crabbing with the kids on the dinghy pontoon. Visit the iconic pink Ferry Boat Inn (or FBI as it is known locally). Ring the bell for the ferry and head across the Dart to Greenway, the once holiday home of the renowned Agatha Christie. For outdoor activity, there are sailing schools and canoe hire, as well as plenty of scenic walks. The harbour town of Dartmouth is just a short drive away or ferry away, and offers an array of shops, a cinema, plenty of restaurants and even a castle.
