    Perfect for a large family group. Lovely outdoor space ideal for barbecues, with a tranquil garden with trickling stream/ ponds. Amazing views of the countryside and wildlife. Kitchen very well equipped, but very tired and in need of replacing; cupboards smelt very musty when opened. Cleanliness average but not thorough given the extra 2 hours required due to Covid which pushed entry time back to 5pm, not warranted in my opinion as it didnt look or smell any cleaner (there were plenty of cobwebs in lamps and more hidden places). Be aware there's a very steep hill on a narrow country lane to navigate to get to the property, but this ensures peace and quiet during the stay! There is a local.Co-op and petrol station only 5 minutes away, with a wide range of pubs and restaurants within 5 miles, in the pretty little town of Kingsbridge, also larger supermarkets here. Less than 2 miles to the beautiful sheltered coves of North and South Sands beaches, one has a carpark near it, the other has the ferry available every half hour to Salcombe, a pretty seaside town/ harbour. All in all a very enjoyable week spent here with family,cinema a beautiful part of the country.

The property

Set in a quiet and picturesque hamlet in the South Sands valley, Holmfield Barn is a delightful detached stone barn with wonderful rural views of the surrounding countryside.

The spacious hallway leads through to a very large, fully fitted kitchen with a range of appliances and as separate utility with fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and microwave.

The adjoining dining room has a large oak table with seating for eight guests that overlooks the established garden to the rear.

A generous lounge provides three large sofas and a window seat and still benefits from original features such as exposed beams and stone fireplace with wood burning stove.

Double French doors lead out to the terrace.

Four bedrooms in total all located on the first floor, the master bedroom with super King-size bed, walk in wardrobe and en suite bath/shower room with separate cubicle, wash-hand basin and w.c.

The second bedroom with double bed, wardrobe and drawers.

Bedroom three has twin beds and the fourth bedroom provides 5ft bunk beds and is ideally suited for children.

In addition to the en suite is a family bathroom with bath, separate shower, wash-hand basin and w.c.

Outside is a pretty, well maintained garden with mature trees, shrubs and lawn.

The garden also features a series of small interconnecting ponds leading to a larger pond in the adjacent field.

Large terrace and table with bench seating.

Parking on the lane for 2/3 cars.

The attractive village of Malborough boasts a multitude of thatched cottages, a village shop, two excellent country pubs and a thriving post office. It is located just 2 miles from the popular sailing resort of Salcombe, the southernmost town in the South Hams. Boasting a beautiful, scenic coastline, Salcombe is ideal for enjoying sailing, watersports, coastal walking or for simply soaking up the sunshine. Observe the plentiful wildlife in the area, visit several country houses and gardens close by or visit the lovely market town of Kingsbridge. Alternatively, explore the wide open spaces and rocky tors of Dartmoor, just 15 miles away. A perfect holiday location, with much to see and do.
