“The apartment is in a great location, easy parking and a lovely view.”

It was clean and tidy and we found it a relaxing stay. The only issue I had was the lack of manuals / information. There were no instructions for the cooker, microwave, Bosch coffee maker (well there were some but they don't say how to use it, I watched a video), sound bar, TV and peripherals, and heating timings. I managed to download most of the manuals but it's a bit of a pain and still not easy to read on a phone. There's also a "blue light" switch on the wall in the kitchen which Google ...

There's also a "blue light" switch on the wall in the kitchen which Google Lens identified as a timer (like you have for lights in a corridor in a block of flats), I never did find out what that controlled. The heating timer seemed simple similar to mine at home, but it would only change the timing on the Monday, I couldn't find out how to change other days so probably had it on more than really required. Also there is no information on what is recycled. I had to go to the bin store to see how the bins are segregated (Glass is separate from plastic, tins & paper, with general rubbish also separate). There is no food waste collection. At home, our glass, paper, plastic and tins are one bin, Rubbish in a second, and food waste in a third bin, so different areas have different systems which would be useful to know on day one. There was a Dyson vacuum cleaner in the spare room which was full when I tried to use it before we left. I emptied the container but the vacuum just whirred a bit then stopped then whirred a bit more and stopped so I gave up. On the final check before leaving I found another vacuum in the second bedroom wardrobe, but it was too late to use that. There's also a hook missing in the bathroom and the covers to the shower controls are missing in the on suite though not a problem it doesnt look good. Also the dimmable lights in the main bedroom failed on the Thursday which I reported, not a problem and just one of those things. Despite all of the above, which we worked around, we had a really relaxing time and am considering a further visit next year, perhaps in the summer.

The property

18 Abbey Sands is a contemporary second-floor apartment situated in an enviable position in Torquay, Devon.

Designed by world class architect, Kay Elliott and influenced by the Art Deco style of the British seaside, featuring stylish, open-plan living and unrivalled sea views, 18 Abbey Sands is ideally suited for two couples or a family of four looking for a coastal escape in Devon.

Take advantage of the secure allocated off-road parking offered before entering this opulent apartment building to discover this stunning abode.

Stepping inside, towel off your sandy toes in the stylish family bathroom and load the washing machine with your beach gear before following the hallway through to the open-plan living space, where sliding balcony doors bathe the sociable space with natural light.

Enjoy relaxing on the sofa in front of the television as the fresh, seaside air blissfully flows through the room, or venture outdoors and soak in the unrivalled views across the glistening waters of the coast as you toast a glass of fizz with your loved ones.

When hunger pangs set in, head to the well-stocked kitchen, where gleaming white cabinets conceal a bevy of conveniences, sure to inspire any budding cook to whip up a dinner for four to be enjoyed the adjacent dining table.

Alternatively enjoy the restaurants situated below the development with a choice of Bistrot Pierre, Las Iguanas and Visto Lounge.

When sleep calls, catch your rest in one of the two sumptuous super-king-size bedrooms, one offering a handy zip/link feature to provide flexible sleeping arrangements for families, friends, and couples alike.

Rise with a steaming cup of coffee on the balcony as the sun rises over the bay before getting ready to embark on another exciting day of adventure.

The Victorians dubbed Torquay the "English Riviera," and it's easy to see why; the picture-perfect marina, together with the pristine sands of Torr Abbey Sands and the intriguing exhibitions of local history at Torquay Museum are just a few of the must-see attractions in the historic town.

In contrast to the award-winning Babbacombe Model Village, which covers four acres of miniature scenery, the Torquay Golf Course or a 'two-foot' excursion along the South West Coast Path are both excellent alternatives for escaping the excitement.

Be sure to travel along the coast and visit Paignton, where you may enjoy the Victorian pier's fairground rides or cool off at Splashdown Quaywest, or head further inland and tour the medieval rooms and well-kept grounds of the National Trust's Compton Castle.

A stay at 18 Abbey Sands will provide you with priceless memories.
