The property

Anchor Watch is tucked away in the vibrant town of Dartmouth on the western bank of the River Dart, and is a fabulous dwelling ideal for a couple or a small family of four.

Within reaching distance of the vast South West Coast Path, just a pleasant drive away from the stunning landscapes of the Dartmoor National Park, this attractive first-floor apartment is a wonderful base offering the very best of both the coast and countryside.

Turn on the eye-catching electric woodburning stove that sits proudly within the welcoming sitting room and allow yourself to sink into the plush corner sofa, relaxing with friends as you recover from an action-packed day spent exploring the local area.

Wander across to the bright white kitchen and discover a sea of essential appliances such as an impressive electric oven and hob, a handy dishwasher, and a washer/dryer.

Take a seat at the pretty dining room table and admire views of the harbour as you tuck-into a lovingly prepared meal, curtesy of the chef of the group.

Make yourself at home in one of the two homely bedrooms a twin (2'6") overlooking St Saviours Church, and a large king-size bedroom benefitting from a beautiful en-suite bathroom boasting a roomy tub and shower over.

Guests will also find an airy shower room with contemporary tiles and a walk-in shower, where you can prepare for the day with a refreshing wash whilst your towel keeps warm on the heated rail.

When you can just about tear yourself away from this restful apartment, be sure to pay a visit to the Royal Avenue Gardens or enjoy a relaxing stroll along the embankment, watching as colourful boats bob happily in the water.

Learn of the rich and exciting local history at the Tudor-style Dartmouth Museum and the 15th century fortress of Bayard's Cove Fort.

Take in the incredible views of the Dart Estuary from the imposing Dartmouth Castle, before descending to Sugary Cove Beach.

Continue along the South West Coast Path to Brownstone Battery and Berry Head National Nature Reserve, before taking a detour to the town of Brixham and indulging in a hearty lunch in one of the many charming cafés.

Embark on a fun-filled day for the whole family at Woodlands Family Theme Park and Torquay's Dinosaur World, or experience an animal encounter like never before at Paignton Zoo Environmental Park.

No trip to Devon is complete without a breath-taking hike through the Dartmoor National Park, home to the enchanting Hingston Hill Stone Circle and Norsworthy Bridge.

About the location

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
