“This was our third holiday in April Cottage and it was loverly It’s the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in.”
The location is excellent. Parking can be a bit of a problem at peak times but you soon get to know how to overcome it. Overall another wonderful holiday in Dartmouth. Mick & Lynda.- Mike, September 2021
“The longe diner had a terrible damp smell that hits you as you walk in”- Michelle, August 2021
“The property was lovely and very comfortable exceeded all expectations.”
Few steep steps to property but not too bad. Nice outside space. Shame the weather was not too kind to us.- Glenys, August 2021
“Renovation work ruined our holiday.”
There is renovation work going on at both the adjacent property and the one above. It went on for the full fortnight we stayed there starting as early as 8am through the day, every day including weekends, been woken up at 8am on a Sunday morning is no joke. This work appears to be ongoing so I would advise anyone staying here to contact your holiday agency and inquire how things are going, had we been informed before hand, we would at least have had the chance to either cancel or find somewhere else. The church next to the property has been sold so work will be starting there too I suppose. We reported the issue to the Coast and Country office on the Monday, and asked to be moved, they denied any knowledge about the work (despite previous holiday makers complaining) and they said that they had no available properties to move us to. The owner offered compensation, but to us it wasn’t enough really. This is the first time in 9 years of holidays in the UK that we have complained about a property. The only other issue was that the owner really needs to invest in new sofas, both my husband and I suffer from arthritis and the sofas were too low and uncomfortable for us, we had to sit on the dining chairs. This property is really well equipped especially the kitchen, there was everything you needed and more. Good position in town not too far to walk to centre. It was just such a shame about the noise. We couldn’t even go back to relax in the afternoon as the work went on all day. We were told that Dartmouth council had given permission for building work to commence in the Summer to make up for set backs due to COVID-19. We just don’t feel like we have had a relaxing holiday that we usually have.- Debra, July 2021
“Great location… comfy accommodation with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable.”
The outside area needed a clean … but other than that we had a great stay.- Joanna, July 2021
“This is a really nice cottage with some thoughtful finishing touches.”
It’s larger than we expected, very comfortable and in a great location. The only issue was noisy renovation work going on in the adjacent property. We informed customer relations about what is evidently a major project, given the contents of the planning notice on a nearby lamp post. I hope other visitors will be forewarned.- David, July 2021
Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback, we are thrilled that you were happy with April Cottage. We can only apologise that you were disturbed by building works. We were unaware of these and will investigate it further. We do hope that in spite of this issue you enjoyed your holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back to the area soon. Property Owner
“Lovely cottage great location, needs update on sofas so uncomfortable, plus bed mattress so uncomfortable, for those reasons only, would not rebook, and came home early.”
Also not enough parking couldn’t go out to visit local beaches as it was a nightmare getting back to park, even though you had a permit.- Barb, June 2021
“Second time staying at the property and it is perfect for our needs, we are already looking at booking again in the future.”- Lindsey, May 2021
“April Cottage is wonderful, very comfortable and great extras like the stars projected on the ceiling of the bedroom.”
We had a problem with the heating and hot water on the first night. a member of staff came out very quickly and sorted it out. We would definitely come back.- Rachel, April 2021
“There could be parking concerns for some people in peak season.”
We managed to park in Newcomen Rd and didnt feel the need, or desire, to move the car for the whole week, The parking permit made a avaliable for a car park half a mile away is a pleasant walk away, but maybe just a little too far for some. Other than that the holiday completely blew us away, An amazing week,,, We would also would like to thank the wonderful friendly staff at the local office for helping us with a very minor issue that wa resolved very quickly,, thank you everyone involved for making our stay so special,,, happy new year- John, December 2019

About the location
Totnes 12 miles.
Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
