“My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Dartmouth and the cottage was a perfect base for us .”
..... even with all those steps.
..... even with all those steps. We would definitely visit again and the upper terrace with the breathtaking views was just amazing. I didn’t want to leave. With visiting in November we also got to use the open fire which made the sitting room really cosy.
“The only fault would be that a black out blind is needed for the main bedroom.”
Once again, thank you for leaving feedback regarding your recent stay at Castle View Cottage. We will pass your suggestion onto the property’s owner for their consideration and we hope you choose to book with us again soon. Owner relations
“The terrace was superb.”
Stunning views over Dartmouth and Kingwear. Watching the steam train and various ferries coming and going was fab. Enjoyed evenings drinks up there every night. I would be a bit concerned about the safety of young children on the steep steps and terrace though. Inside the prperty had a good homely look but the sofa was actually rather uncomfortable to sit on - hard and a bit lumpy. The kitchen was very well equipped, everything was there including dishcloths, washing machine, dishwasher and a small freezer compartment to the fridge. The double bed was also rather uncomfortable and lumpy and would definitely benefit from a mattress topper, which we have found to be in place in other properties we have rented, and they make a huge difference. We were extremely lucky and found a parking space directly outside the property which is rare as hen's teeth. However the road to the property is very narrow and steep and you often have to negotiate with other drivers to be able to pass. However I will say that all the drivers were most considerate. You just need to be very patient. There's so much to see in the area around Dartmouth- highly recommended are Dartmouth castle and Castle Cove, Greenway, and Coleton Fishacre
Thank you for your feedback in respect of Castle View Cottage. We are glad you enjoyed your stay in Dartmouth and all the amazing things to see and do as well as the fantastic views from the terrace from the house. You are right that parking can be tricky in traditional fishing villages like Dartmouth. The house comes with a parking permit for the main car park in town which is a five/ten minute walk if you aren’t lucky enough to find one on Above Town. If you do it’s wonderful! Most people who live in Dartmouth are used to giving way on narrow streets and you are right, patience is required! We are sorry you found the bed a little hard. The mattress is relatively new and medium firm to hopefully suit the majority of guests. The owners have taken on board your comments and have added a mattress topper just to add to the comfort of those who prefer their bed a little softer! We were delighted to hear you had a fantastic time exploring this historic naval town and the surrounding area. Thank you for sharing your list of recommendations! We hope to welcome you back to this beautiful area again very soon. Owner relations
“The cottage has fantastic views across the river dart and out to sea, from the decking area.”
The summer house isn't in great condition and is used for storage rather than a covered seating area. The cottage is comfortable and has a well equipped kitchen. Instructions for the oven would be handy. Unloading and loading the car isn't easy, the layby that we were told about was in constant use and as the road is very narrow we had to drive round a few times before we could pull over and then one of us had to stay with car in case we had to move it. We loved staying in Dartmouth and will definitely return.

“The cottage was very pretty, the rooms beautifully furnished and everything provided with the holiday maker in mind.”
The views from the upper terrace are outstanding, on a good day you really don't need to go anywhere else. We relaxed with the sunday papers, had afternoon tea, a barbecue or two and enjoyed watching the ferries and boats on the river Dart and seeing and hearing the steam train. Perfect!!
