  • “While the cottage was extremely well furnished and comfortable, unfortunately the location was very awkward.”

.ie the road to the property is so narrow to drive through..also as my friend and I are 72 & 81 it wasn’t really the place for us it was very strenuous to get out and about...if I book with Sykes cottages again it would have to be somewhere on ground level. I cannot fault the cleanliness and comfort of the cottage, just the unfortunate fact of all the stairs inside, this is a lesson learned for me ..to read the small print in future...

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review. As stated within the property listing, Huffin’s accommodation is spread over three stories thus it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues, but we are so pleased that you found it to be comfortable and well-maintained. Given the 6ft width limit on South Ford Road, we encourage guests to drive slowly and with care. Roads in central Dartmouth can be narrow but we are fortunate to enjoy a large parking space and so hopefully this made things a little easier. With all good wishes from the Owners Owner relations

The property

Offering a fabulous three-storey property in the heart of South Devon's popular riverside town of Dartmouth, Huffin is a wonderful base for a holiday exploring the South Hams.

Sleeping four guests, Huffin enjoys an open-plan living space, as well as off-road parking, so you are free to explore this historic harbour town on foot.

Enter from the street and onto the first floor where you will find one of the two bedrooms; a king-size bed offers a lovely sleeping spot and is served by an en-suite shower room.

Travel down the stairs to the ground floor and be welcomed into the open-plan living space where a well-equipped, neat kitchen has all you need for a self-catered stay, along with a dining table for a home-cooked meal and a sitting area with a large corner sofa to relax on.

Sit out on the balcony in the afternoons and evenings when it catches the sun and sip on a drink while you drink in the views over Dartmouth.

From here head down another flight of stairs to the lower ground floor which is home to a king-size bedroom, served by the excellent family shower room.

As an alternative to the entrance level bedroom, a bunk bedroom can be made available upon request.

The town of Dartmouth is steeped in history which can easily be discovered by following the fabulous Dartmouth Mayflower Heritage Trail, which covers many places and points in the town which relate to its long sailing history, download the free app and take yourself and your group on a self-guided tour.

You must visit the amazing Dartmouth Castle which still stands watching over the Dart Estuary since it was built back in the 15th century.

Dine out in the many restaurants and eateries in Dartmouth with lots of places offering fresh locally caught seafood.

Explore the coast via the South West Coast Path and take in the stunning coastal scenery, or view it from the water by heading out on a sea kayak tour or hire a boat.

Enjoy a day on the beach at the award-winning Blackpool Sands, a shingle beach just a short drive from Dartmouth.

Woodlands Family Theme Park makes a great day out for all ages with rollercoasters and rides to enjoy, as well as a zoo/farm with meerkats and falconry displays.

For an adventures break in Devon, enjoy the delights of Dartmouth from Huffin.

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
