John “Brilliant property.”
- John, May 2022 -
Alex “The Captain's House Dartmouth was as described, parking spaces were better than expected.”
After a nice quiet weekend Monday morning arrived along with pneumatic drills breaking up the concrete all along one side of the house. This along with holes being filled went on until Thursday, so we spent most mornings eating breakfast in the dining room with a man in a van sat literally outside our window. I assume this work was arranged in advance and I feel we should have been informed with the option to change location. The house was good, we were surprised there were no games or books and the lounge would be improved by a couple of lamps to improve the lighting. If it hadn't been for the roadworks we would have rated it much higher.
- Alex, April 2022Sarah “We enjoyed our weeks holiday at The Captains House.”
The house is great for a family group. We did find the kitchen to be a cold room and needed to use the additional electric heater provided. May I suggest provision of glasses suitable for the dishwasher would be helpful.
- Sarah, February 2022Bruce “Superb property in a very good location.”
Spacious and well appointed we would highly recommend it.
- Bruce, October 2021Carolyn “The equipment was a bit hi-tech for us pensioners but we managed to work everything out in the kitchen eventually.”
Showers were a bit hit and miss with hot water and pressure. There was no brush to sweep the wooden floor in the hallway, not moaning just would be useful. We had a wonderful week here.
- Carolyn, September 2021Kevin “Fire alarm system needs attention as it kept bleeping for no obvious reason and the silencer only sto stopped working on the first day for a few hours before it switched itself on again for the remainder of our stay and in case it failed again a second fridge was provided.”
Hob front right ring malfunctioned, it switched itself off while in use, and needs attention. Splash back behind the kitchen sink was coming away (behind the drainer). Front window in dining room couldn’t lock but was fixed while we were there.
- Kevin, July 2021David “Great Town location close to the River, ferry and the good restaurants and shops in Dartmouth.”
Car park spaces a real bonus. Need to be fit for the many steps up and down the four levels. We'll equipped throughout. No outside space only negative but close to park area and promenade. Would return.

About the location
DARTMOUTH
Totnes 12 miles.
Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
Please note that due to the limited head height in the attic bedroom the room is suitable for children.
