Overall the location was great and the house comfortable, but the reasons for the lower marks were down to the house needing to be freshened up - light bulbs did not work and some of the decoration was looking tired - the biggest complaint was the fact that the log burner is still not working - this has been highlighted in other customer comments - instead of 'the flue not working well' I think the real reason is that the owner does not want the log burner used, which is fine, but don't include ...

Overall the location was great and the house comfortable, but the reasons for the lower marks were down to the house needing to be freshened up - light bulbs did not work and some of the decoration was looking tired - the biggest complaint was the fact that the log burner is still not working - this has been highlighted in other customer comments - instead of 'the flue not working well' I think the real reason is that the owner does not want the log burner used, which is fine, but don't include in the listing that it has a working one - some of the days were cold and with my 82 year old parents who were staying with us, having this working would have made all the difference

The property

Quay Cottage has a very special riverside position on 'The Quay' in Dittisham with stunning uninterrupted views across the River Dart.

The historic naval town of Dartmouth is just a 15-minute drive (or 20-30-minute river cruise) away, with its award-winning restaurants, individual boutique shops and delightful waterfront.

The Ferry Boat Inn (one of two pubs in the village, in addition to a shop/post office) and widely acclaimed Anchorstone Cafe serving locally-sourced fish and seafood in a stunning riverside location, are within 100 yards of the cottage, whilst Agatha Christie's former home 'Greenway' (now owned by the National Trust) is a short ferry 'hop' across from The Quay.

The cottage is accessed from The Quay-via a covered porch and stable door which leads directly into the sitting room.

This cosy living area has low ceilings, original supporting beams and delightful views and a feature Wood Burner. Two steps lead up into the kitchen which is well equipped with a door leading out to the rear garden.

Further river views over the cottage can be found from the elevated decking area.

About the location

Dittisham

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon.

It is important to appreciate firstly that The Quay in Dittisham is accessed by one steep and narrow road (mostly one car width) only. Whilst it may be possible to park for a short period nearby to unload/load on arrival/departure this will be dependant on local tides and usage of the nearby pub and cafe. We advise guests to park at The Ham and carry luggage (preferably in small, soft bags not suitcases!) along The Quay to Quay Cottage. You can purchase weekly car parking tickets from the two car parks in Dittisham.

Please note that the Wood Burner is no longer in use and is now only a feature Wood Burner
