“The property was great and the proximity to the beach and the Hope and Anchor pub is so helpful when you have lots of kids and a dog.”
Would recommend this property any time of year. The only change we would make is that there were many pots and pans not for the induction hob. Would suggest these are removed so not to confuse guest when trying to cook.
“Lovely cosy cottage.”
Amazing location. Loved how you can walk from the back garden right onto the beach. Loved the paintings and fireplace.
“Cottage was in excellent location,The main drawback was the bathroom with it being downstairs, although we knew this when we booked it.”
We found when you had a shower, the water would literally soak the bathroom floor. All in all the cottage was great but it could do with a really good clean as cobwebs literally from the moment you walk in through the front door!
“Had a fantastic stay, great location and cottage was great.”
The only disappointment was that no recycling bags were provided and the village had no facilities so it all went into landfill
Cottage a little bit compact but the location absolutely made this holiday. 10 seconds to get to the beach! Would definitely stay again. The local pub and pizza place are excellent and so many beautiful walks from the doorstep. Highly recommend.
“We were lucky and hit that beautiful week of sunshine in March and also we were the only people in the row of cottages until the last night so it was incredibly peaceful.”
Every morning between 8 and 9 am we were on the beach paddling barefoot, the water was so clear although a little chilly!! A couple of mornings we had breakfast sitting out at the back of the cottage with glorious views over the bay. It was the best trip down Memory Lane for us. Overall the location is fabulous but probably very crowded in the holiday season. The cottage was delightful and we lit the wood burning fire each night. The kitchen appliances were all new, it took us a bit of time to work out the job and that some of the pans didn't work on it! Loved like the owners took note of previous comments and had replaced the sofas as they were comfortable. Overall a great 5 days.

“The cottage was very clean and tidy and in a great location.”
As we stayed in the cottage at Christmas, the only downfall was that the front door was very draughty making the cottage colder than we would have liked. Having said that we had a brilliant time.
“Basic, lacked warm water but suited purpose”
“As always clean and tidy”
“Great cottage, right by the beach at Hope Cove.”
Fantastic place to stay with good options for eating out in the village. We were a family of four with 2 very young children and they absolutely loved it!
“A well equipped cottage but need for new sofas in the lounge very impractical and uncomfy.”
Mattresses in twin room need replacing as so hard and uncomfortable.

“Anchor cottage is a lovely cottage with great views and very close to the beach.”
The parking is very tight but doable. Beds are comfy and the kitchen is well appointed. Bathroom is good. Lounge is nice but one sofa needs replacing- very saggy. The cottage has wifi and a a landline that you can only make Freephone calls on. No mobile reception unless you have an apple phone and are calling an apple phone. The only poor thing is the hot water, not enough and not hot enough especially if 6 people are staying, we had difficulty with 2 people. A lovely place with a post office, a pub, a restaurant that does take away as well and caters for gluten free diets. Will be back :)

About the location
Salcombe 4.6 miles; Kingsbridge 5.1 miles
The picturesque and unspoiled village of Hope Cove lies in the sheltered curve of Bigbury Bay on Devon’s south coast. A choice destination for families, the two beaches offering soft sand and rock pools for sandcastle building and fishing for small crabs. The town remains a fishing village where crabs and lobsters are still landed, however it was once used by smugglers. Many ships have perished around the coast and the wrecks that lie beneath the waves make it a popular spot for divers. Above the beach there are a number of pubs and restaurants. The coastal footpath can be joined from here and leads towards Bigbury-on-sea in one direction and the coastal resort of Salcombe in the other.
limited mobile phone reception in Hope Cove No pets permitted. Bunk room for children only. All bed linen is supplied. You will need to bring your own towels and tea towels. Internal steps are very steep. Telephone available. All bed linen is supplied. You will need to bring your own towels and tea towels.
