“The beds were not terribly comfortable.”

The outside table was very rickety and the cushions pretty thin for the chairs. There were not enough glasses and crockery for the amount of people the cottage sleeps. The cooking pots/pans were not big enough to cook for a large group of people. There were only two tea towels provided which we had to keep washing because we had to keep washing glasses! There were no shower mats in the bathrooms (and the shower could be quite slippery) or anything in which to put toothbrushes. I would say though, that despite its minor shortcomings the house was beautiful, in a great position with fabulous views of the river.

“My family and I had a wonderful holiday at Blue Haze to celebrate my 70th birthday.”

The property provided everything we required to make this special holiday memorable. An extremely spacious house with an amazing view of the Kingsbridge Estuary. The garden was large and completely safe for our two dogs. Only one small criticism; there was a problem with the downstairs heating which made the bedrooms cold. We spoke to Paul on two occasions and the radiators did heat up, but this was not sustained. The under-floor heating upstairs was very welcoming. This small hiccup didn’t spoil our holiday and we wouldn’t have any hesitation in returning to this beautiful house.

“Great house, excellent views and location.”

Live dup to most of our expectations. The front door handle was broken and we could not use it all week. Sykes knew this was broken before we arrived and when we phoned them up they said it needed a 'specialist' to come and fix it. It looked fairly routine to us so we weren't sure that could be true and no one came all week when we were there. Not great as we always had to use the backdoor. House was well furnished and had comfortable sofas and chairs but the mattresses were cheap and not at all comfortable. Overall,a great stay and would recommend it to others if mattresses are improved.

“Lovely property, amazing views, well stocked with all the bits and bobs you would have at home.”

There were 5 adults, two children and a dog staying and still plenty of room for us all. The only draw back was the front door handle was broken so we had to use the back door all week and the lovely gas BBQ had no gas so we couldn't use it.

“The location of the property was excellent and very close to all ok the ‘must do’ beaches and towns.”

The property was clean, well equipped, had ample off road parking and spectacular views of the estuary to the front of the property! Having the gas BBQ and all the tools was a great touch. We love outdoor cooking and often have to struggle with the disposable BBQ’s when we have hired self catering properties previously, so having a Weber to hand was fab! It was great that there was a bathroom for every room, always makes getting ready a bit simpler. We will be returning!

“All in all this is the best holiday let we have ever stayed in.”

Absolutely spotlessly clean. With great facilities. The specification of the property is fantastic along with the views. Very detail has been thought through. Extremely dog friendly and easy property to holiday in. We had very mixed weather so the property was a blessing on a stormy day. Just nice to relax and look out over the estuary. You can walk out the back of the garden of property to Kingsbridge which negates the fact there is no pavement directly outside. Very well located for Salcombe, Hope Cove and Dartmouth. The Crabshell along the road is superb for food and the little coffee outlets on the square are great also.

“We have just had a lovely week staying at Blue Haze.”

The house is very comfortable from the beds, to the cosy log burner in the living room. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. The views are stunning from nearly all the rooms and the front balcony is perfect place to enjoy the estuary. Loved Kingsbridge, the house is a nice walk into town. Lots of delis, butchers, fishmonger, greengrocer and Springfield Farm shop a short drive away. Perfect position to enjoy all the beautiful local beaches....Slapton Sands and Blackpool Sands.

“We were a party of six adults.”

Blue Haze is a stunning house with a lovely big garden. The house is very spacious and the rooms a decent size. The weather was good the entire week so we were able to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine. The nearest eating place and shops is within walking distance but be careful as some parts of the road has no footpath. All in all we would recommend holidaying in this beautiful house.

“Magnificent house excellent river views from all windows.”

Everything we needed was there. Only one very small gripe when we used the Hoover it left awful smell of dogs. Just to add we are dog lovers but ours did not travel with us.

“Upon arrival, the house looked clean at a glance but most the bathrooms had cobwebs and spiders.”

We cleaned the kitchen again as the extractor hood was thick with dust, as was the coffee machine. After a couple of hours of 4 of us working, it looked lovely. (But didn’t expect to do this, in the current situation, hence the later check in times of 5pm and the cleaners had left 3pm. Don’t think the owners would appreciate how we found it. Very dusty with lots of cobwebs in corners. Also, no bottles allowed in the recycle, we had to take them to a nearby leisure centre which is fine but the bins at the front were full of bottles from previous guests so my husband had to empty them in case they thought we had left them. Not a pleasant job at all!!! All in all the house, location, views, facilities are all great. We will definitely miss the views for sure.

“This property far exceeded my expections.”

Quite often properties that supposedly accommodate 8 people are cramped in certain areas, such as dining or lounging. This was not the case here. We couldn't fault the accommodation. Our only issue was the number of flies that seem to appear from nowhere. This is not a criticism of the property, just something that the owner might wish to be aware of.

“Great lovely big house.”

well-equipped - though no pizza cutter and would always like a nespresso machine. My one worry going as we know the area well was the noise of the road and it is the one thing that would put us off returning. As we'd known it may be noisy it was no big deal this time. location great, views completely amazing.

Salcombe 5 miles; Bantham 5 miles; Dartmouth 12 miles; Totnes 13 miles; Plymouth 20 miles.

The busy little town of Kingsbridge lies at the head of a marine estuary in the attractive South Hams area of South Devon. Kingsbridge is home to a range of lovely independent shops and coffee shops, as well as a local cinema and an award-winning pub. During the summer season there are river excursions to Salcombe to see the abundant wildlife in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which also forms part of the South Devon Heritage Coast. Visitors can take a walk along the Kingsbridge Quay, wander through the narrow alleys off Fore Street or visit the Shambles in Totnes, an Elizabethan market arcade. Around the South Hams area there are picturesque ports, such as Dartmouth and Salcombe, together with sandy beaches at Blackpool Sands near Stoke Fleming and the two sandy beaches at Thurlestone.
