“The cottage was lovely, with everything you needed and in a great position over looking the estuary.”

Although hilly, great to have two parking spaces. Beds were very comfortable and we slept well. A couple of small things, when it was windy the windows rattled, even though they did supply a couple of plastic wedges. Make sure they’re in tight. If you are running a bath and flush the loo, the system won’t fill up. You have to turn the tap off. The sofa and chairs could be more comfortable especially when there are four adults. The utility area by the lounge is a great space for everything, boots, dog, coats and bags. Coast and Country were very helpful when we needed them. We’ve had a lovely time and would definitely go again.

About the location

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.

Twin beds can be placed together to create a super-King size bed, but please note the beds do not lock together. This must be requested at time of booking.

Access from Allenhayes road is via narrow/steep steps.
