    It is also well located, the walk up the hill from the harbour being very 'doable' by Salcombe standards!

Our only comment would be that the external appearance does let the property down, and the internal communal staircase appears worn and grubby- how ever once through the front door of the apartment, the property is excellent.

The property

6 Glenthorne House is situated within an imposing, detached Victorian villa with magnificent views overlooking the Salcombe estuary and harbour, redeveloped and divided into seven holiday apartments and offering quick and easy access to the town, estuary and local sandy beaches.

This spacious first floor apartment is accessed through a shared entrance and staircase and opens into a light hallway.

The open plan living/kitchen/dining room has stunning views from the lounge over the Salcombe Estuary and Batson Creek.

The lounge is pleasantly furnished with two sofas, occasional furniture, dining table and chairs, and offers a TV and DVD player.

The well-equipped, modern spacious kitchen provides a range of fitted units, a fitted gas oven, microwave, fridge with freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher.

Sleeping four, the property has two bedrooms.

The main bedroom has a 5ft double bed, wardrobe, dressing table and a small chest of drawers and also benefits from picturesque views out over the Estuary, whilst the second has two single beds, a bedside unit, small fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers.

There is a modern separate bathroom with bath, shower (over), w.c., wash-hand basin and heated towel rail.

6 Glenthorne House is a fantastic base for exploring Salcombe’s sandy beaches, walking the South West Coast Path, or trying watersports such as sailing, stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.

All bed linen, duvets and pillows are supplied. Towels provided but you will need to bring beach towels.
