“We had a wonderful stay at Edinburgh House.”

The views are breathtaking, and the various seating options, inside & out, to enjoy them were fantastic. We have never stayed anywhere where the kitchen has everything you could possibly need and more. Seating in the lounge area was really comfy with blankets provided which made the colder evenings cosy. The main bedroom is huge, plenty of storage for clothes but we weren't comfortable in the bed. We feel this was due to a lot of give in the mattress and in some places we could feel the springs ...

We have never stayed anywhere where the kitchen has everything you could possibly need and more. Seating in the lounge area was really comfy with blankets provided which made the colder evenings cosy. The main bedroom is huge, plenty of storage for clothes but we weren't comfortable in the bed. We feel this was due to a lot of give in the mattress and in some places we could feel the springs. We only used the rain shower upstairs and it was fantastic with plenty of water pressure. It was lovely to have such a huge selection of books as well as dvds & games. The only other improvement we can think of, apart from a change of mattress, is a smart tv.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Edinburgh House and found it well-equipped. We are sorry that you found the mattress uncomfortable - this is the first time a guest has reported this. Usually people comment on how comfy all the mattresses are but we realise this is a personal thing. We will certainly keep an eye on this in future feedback. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide specific feedback (always the most helpful). Property Owner

The property

Edinburgh House is a spacious and comfortable duplex apartment sitting proudly above the town with clear and uninterrupted views along the Salcombe Estuary.

Something of a local landmark in its elevated position, this late 19th Century house has been converted into three apartments in recent years with the main holiday accommodation divided over two floors and offering exclusive access to the large garden.

Much of the property has been recently refurbished and it is suited to family groups or two couples looking for a centrally located property with lovely views and off-road parking. The apartment offers stunning views along the Salcombe Estuary towards Snapes Point and South Pool Creek and across to East Portlemouth beach.

The entrance leads into the first floor level and two of the bedrooms and the shower room can be found on this floor.

The sitting/dining room is located on the ground floor, with panoramic views.

The kitchen/breakfast room is newly refurbished with sleek units and modern appliances, including an American style fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

This room extends out towards a bright and sunny breakfast area with wonderful views.

There are three bedrooms in total, a King-size and twin bedroom on the first floor and a further double bedroom on the ground floor.

The ground floor benefits from a newly fitted family bathroom and a stylishly presented shower room is found on the first floor.

To the front of the house is an attractive area of terraced garden and garden furniture.

There is also a balcony at first floor level.

Off-road parking is provided for one small/medium sized car.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

SALCOMBE

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.

No pets permitted.

Due to the nature of the tiered garden, it is advised that young children are supervised.

Please be aware, due to the nature of the town, several of our properties are situated up hills. Please contact our reservations team if you would like more information about the location of this property.
