“We have stayed in Ginn cottage a few times now and have really enjoyed it.”

It is a quirky, cosy and very comfortable ex fishermans cottage. Like many character cottages, the kitchen is quite small which is fine for simple suppers, lunches and breakfast. The cottage is very nicely furnished. It is really useful to have the utility room and store downstairs, so you can drop off all your beach and sailing bags etc before going into the cottage. The main attraction is its location with easy access into the town - It is close enough for an easy stroll into town for a drink ...

The main attraction is its location with easy access into the town - It is close enough for an easy stroll into town for a drink or something to eat and yet far enough away for peace and quiet. It is the perfect place to escape to and snuggle down for a winter break - equally great as a base for summer outdoor beach and boating fun. It's fine for 4 adults, but even more perfect for 2 who want a neat little cottage in lovely Salcombe, The cottage garden is delightful too

The property

Ginn Cottage is a cosy and very well presented mid-terrace cottage, renovated and fully refurbished in 2017 to a high standard throughout, and within a short walk of Salcombe town centre.

The accommodation is divided cleverly over three storeys and includes two beautifully furnished bedrooms sleeping up to four guests, a family bathroom, and a very comfortable sitting room with feature gas fire. This small fisherman's cottage is in Shadycombe Road, just a 2 minute walk to popular Island Street, with it's boutique shops, Salcombe Gin distillery, bar and galleries.

The famous harbour and estuary, popular with sailors and other watersports enthusiasts, is very close by, whilst the beautiful beaches of East Portlemouth and Millbay can be accessed via a small passenger ferry that runs from the town all year round. From the second floor bedroom there is a good view across Gould Road and Island Street towards Batson Creek and Snapes Point beyond.

From Shadycombe Road the front entrance leads directly into the sitting room.

There is further access to the rear (via the courtyard) up a few steps into the kitchen.

To the front of the cottage is a cosy, and very comfortably furnished sitting room with lovely painted wooden floorboards, two small sofas, armchair, TV/DVD player and feature gas fire.

The room opens out into the kitchen and dining area with newly fitted units, small attractive worktop, Belfast sink, four-ring electric hob and oven and fridge.

A wooden dining table has bench seating and chairs for up to six guests. On the first floor (up relatively narrow winding stairs with a fitted hand rail) is the main double bedroom with metal-framed double bed, small bedside tables, wardrobe and drawers.

On the second floor (built into the eaves) is a delightful second bedroom with double bed, and glimpses of Batson Creek and its resident boats, and Snapes Point.

On the first floor is a newly refurbished family bathroom with bath, shower (over), wash-hand basin, w.c., and heated towel rail. Outside is a small courtyard with a bistro table and chairs.

From the courtyard, a narrow stone path leads to a small decked terrace with bistro table, bench and two chairs, as well as a small garden with mature shrubs and a delightful olive tree.
