“A lovely, airy house in a very scenic location.”

It is well equipped and very nicely furnished. We loved the kitchen/dining area with bifold doors to the garden and beautiful views. We would definitely like to stay again.

The property

Hillsbrook is a charming standalone home with lovely views of East Portlemouth Down, South Pool Creek, and the open ocean from its lofty location.

The bustling town centre of Salcombe, with its variety of boutique stores and restaurants, is easily accessible. The covered entrance lobby, which is accessible from the driveway, leads to a roomy, tiled hallway, from which there is access to a utility room with laundry facilities and a separate shower room with a cubicle, a toilet, and a sink. The master bedroom on the first floor is reached through stairs. A wonderful sitting area with big sofas, occasional pieces, a 50" Smart TV, and a coal effect fire with a stone surround is accessible from the hallway. Access to the rear, south-facing garden is provided through a glass door from the alcove next to it. A spacious, contemporary, and well-furnished kitchen/breakfast area opens to a sunny, cheerful garden room with a sizable modern dining table, chairs, sofa, and occasional furnishings. The sunny garden, teak deck, and terrace areas with a teak dining table and chairs are all accessible from the Garden Room via full width Bi-Folding glass doors that may be opened.

There is also a BBQ with dual fuels. Overall, there are three bedrooms.

The first-floor master bedroom features a king-size bed and an en suite bathroom with a bathtub, a separate shower, a wash basin, and a toilet.

The little balcony is accessed through sliding glass doors. Two further bedrooms are located on the ground floor; the first has a king-size bed and built-in wardrobes, while the second has two single beds. Parking for 2/3 cars. WiFi is accessible.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
