The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the lack of views and air flow from the two smaller bedrooms.

“This was a lovely property with high quality interior but unfortunately in need of a deep clean throughout, to include upholstery cleaning to sofas and headboards.”

We did stay in October so I guess the property was due for a deep clean during the winter months. Unfortunately a drain pipe had broken outside the basement level bedroom window causing the bedroom to be damp, which the agent was not aware of. They responded as quickly as possible to find us alternative accommodation and we went on to have a fabulous holiday. We understand that the above issues are being resolved without delay.

Minutes to salcombe centre, overlooking the park, extremely well kitted out -especially the kitchen (I cooked a Sunday roast with no equipment issue), luxurious, wonderful view of the water and boats, good showers, comfortable beds and a place I would return to.

The property

This lovely converted Victorian property benefits from excellent views from the kitchen/dining area and master bedroom and is situated just five minutes (mostly downhill) walk into Salcombe town centre with its array of boutique shops, pubs and restaurants.

The entrance is accessed from Devon Road where the apartment opens at ground floor level into a good-sized hallway with oak flooring.

Cloakroom with w.c and wash-hand basin.

The cosy sitting room has a large L-shaped sofa with matching armchair, footstool, feature fireplace and wall-mounted TV, DVD player.

The light and sunny open plan kitchen/dining area is fully fitted with modern units, handmade granite worktops, induction hob, electric double oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, central island with dishwasher and hi-fi with iPod dock.

A washing machine and tumble dryer are housed in an under stairs cupboard on the lower floor.

A glass-topped table with six oak and leather chairs sits in front of large bay window with delightful views across the estuary.

Three bedrooms in total, all on the lower floor.

The Master bedroom has a King-size bed, fitted wardrobe, TV and sliding doors to the terrace; a tiled en suite wet room with shower, basin, and w.c.

A second room also has a King-size bed and TV.

The third bedroom has bunk beds and TV.

There is a fully tiled family bathroom on the lower floor with freestanding bath, hand-held shower, basin, and w.c.

A glazed door leads out to a sunny rear terrace with garden furniture, and a gate to Courtenay Park.

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
