“Lovely house that has been very well looked after and tastefully decorated.”

Quiet with great views. Because the steps down from the parking area are difficult to negotiate with suitcases, we found it best to drop case at the front before parking, and reverse on departure. Parking for a second car is not possible anywhere near.

The property

Bunbury House boasts a spectacular setting, perched on a hillside facing the river, halfway between Dartmouth town centre and Dartmouth castle.

This fabulous and historic home has been tastefully renovated, with a warm and inviting interior that successfully blends original character features like exposed beams, with contemporary appliances and stylish décor.

The property has stunning views of the River Dart and Kingswear from multiple rooms, and from the terraces scattered among the mature gardens.

The off-road private parking space is accessed via a rear lane at the top of the garden, and easily accommodates one large vehicle.

On arrival, head down through the garden, and descend the steps through the old tower, to reach the main terrace by the back door.

Step into your holiday home, where you can unwind in front of the Smart TV while lounging on the plush corner sofa, or settle into the light and airy first floor sitting room where you can admire the stunning views and watch all the action on the river.

Whip up some delicious dishes in the beautifully appointed kitchen, and dine in comfort at the large dining table.

Alternatively take your meal outside to the patio and enjoy the fresh air and the calming sights and sounds of the river below.

With a separate bath or shower room for each bedroom, there is ample space to spread out and freshen up before retiring to one of the three comfortable bedrooms.

The beautiful 630 mile South West Coastal path passes in front of the property, and a short stroll along it takes you past Warfleet Creek, where you can access the river easily to paddleboard, swim or kayak.

A short distance further on brings you to Dartmouth Castle and, just beyond that, a series of small coves and beaches perfect for spending warm summer days where you can picnic and swim with the family.A short stroll in the other direction takes you into the heart of Dartmouth which benefits from an excellent selection of restaurants, pubs and take-aways offering delicious food, wine and ales.

Explore the narrow streets around the harbour where you’ll find boutique shops, art galleries, river boat trips and much more.

The town is also well provided with convenience stores - the Co-op, M&S Food and Sainsburys are easily accessible for your everyday needs. Agatha Christie’s former house Greenway, Blackpool Sands, and Coleton Fishacre are just a few of the sights within driving distance, while other popular destinations such as Totnes, Brixham and the magnificent Dartmoor National Park are within reach for great days out.

About the location

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
