Amazing views over the nature reserve and coast. Perfect location to enjoy the beach which is easily accessible by foot. Also, lovely walks to Hope Cove, Bantham Beach and Thurlstone village.- James, July 2021

“Thornbrook cottage was absolutely lovely.”
Everyone really enjoyed the hot tub and the views couldn't have been better. My only criticism was the amount of stuff in the kitchen cupboards which left no storage for food stuff that we needed. Also my brother slept in the downstairs bedroom and found the bed to be uncomfortable.- Lyn, May 2021

The clothes tumble drier heater was not working which was very inconvenient as the washing could not be dried outside due to wet weather. Your maintenance staff responded promptly but unfortunately your engineer was unable to fix the machine- Victor, May 2021
“Mattresses/beds need replacing, not just putting a piece of foam on top, all this does is make you sweat and there is no support.”
If you sat on the edge you went down to the frame. The downstairs bedroom also had the noise of the oil fired boiler waking you up very early in the morning, which on holiday you don't want. BBQ had seen better days and needed replacing. All that said the house was in a lovely position close to the beach which was used a lot with two little ones. We are sorry you found the beds not to be to your preference, as you can appreciate comfort of mattresses is very subjective, and we have only received complimentary comments previously. There are also instructions for the boiler in the property so you are able to adjust the time it fires up if it was disruptive to yourselves in the morning. “Positives: so close to the beach, en-suite bathrooms to all double rooms, lovely big table to eat at, amazing views, lots of beach ‘stuff’ already at the property eg inflatable boat, kite, crabbing stuff, buckets & spades.”
Great tree for tree climbing in the garden. Comfy beds. Lovely log burner in the lounge. Negatives: truly terrible internet - the owners have clearly gone for the absolute cheapest option! You can’t watch Netflix or play games that require internet. WiFi calling wouldn’t work. It was like dial-up from the 90’s! The lanes - OMG truly terrifying lanes to get there. If you’re a nervy driver this place is definitely NOT for you! Clutter in the kitchen - as other reviewers have said the owners seem to have dumped all of their junk in the kitchen - including what seemed to be a 1970’s blender! The cold tap in one bathroom wasn’t working, the downstairs shower leaked under the door and into the utility, the pressure of the shower in the green bedroom was awful and you must maintain the hot tub chemicals yourself.- Jayne, August 2020

Unfortunately due to the location of the property there are limited options available, and the owner has broadband through the best available provider, but we do appreciate that it can have slow download speeds. It is disappointing that you did not contact us during your stay as we could have easily rectified the plumbing issues, and assisted with the hot tub maintenance. We do understand that the narrow Devon lanes in this unspoilt area can be a challenge to those not used to them! We hope despite this you had a lovely time near the beach, and hope we can welcome you back to the area again soon. Property Owner

Thornbrook is a dog-friendly detached holiday home with private gardens, parking and sea views overlooking Thurlestone Sands beach.
Ground floor has a recently upgraded kitchen, with direct access to garden.
There is also a dining room, utility room, cloakroom and living area with wood-burning stove and double French doors leading out to the garden.
Five bedrooms in total.
On the ground floor is an en suite double bedroom (children over 6 only).
The en suite wet room has a large walk-in shower (with grab handle and seat).
First floor master bedroom has a super-King size bed and en suite shower room.
Double bedroom with four-posted bed and en suite with bath.
The fourth and fifth bedrooms are on the second floor, accessed via steep stairs, and are both twins (one room is for children only as the beds are 2’6” width).
Cloakroom on second floor.
Family bathroom on first floor.
Games room in separate building.
Baby friendly equipment available on request.
Outside are extensive mature gardens, garden furniture, cold water shower and barbecue.
Hot tub available from 2019 – can be used from noon on Sunday after arrival (to allow sufficient time for cleaning and safe use).
Off-road parking on driveway for 3-4 cars. N.B Hot tub must be drained on departure, if not done, extra charges may be incurred.
For reasons of comfort and safety, the house can accommodate a maximum of eight adults in any party and no more than four children under 6 years of age (excluding babies).
Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

The picturesque village of Thurlestone is popular with both beach-goers and watersports enthusiasts, with the beautiful sandy beaches of Thurlestone and South Milton Sands within walking distance. Thurlestone boasts an 18-hole links golf course, a 13th century church, a traditional pub, a post office and the ‘Voyage Spa’, where visitors can enjoy spa treatments or afternoon tea. The sailing town of Salcombe is just a 10-15 minute drive away, and the fishing village of Hope Cove is a short drive away, or can be reached on foot via the South West Coast Path.

Hot tub available - please note this is available from Sunday midday if you are arriving on a Saturday.
