    The property really suited the dynamics of the family and suited all from young to old. The games room was a real hit for everyone and kept people entertained for hours. The main house appears to be larger on the inside then what you see from the outside and was well laid out although this was on different levels it was not an issue even for our blind dog who after a day or two could make his way around safely.     The property really suited the dynamics of the family and suited all from young to old. The games room was a real hit for everyone and kept people entertained for hours. The main house appears to be larger on the inside then what you see from the outside and was well laid out although this was on different levels it was not an issue even for our blind dog who after a day or two could make his way around safely. On arrival coming through the front door my initial thought was that there was a danger of people hitting there head on the underside of the spiral staircase - As it happened only my wife managed to do that so all good !!!! Because of the time of year we were not able to enjoy the grounds so much but did manage to get out and have some family photos taken. Later on in the year I am sure families would enjoy the space to enjoy ball games etc. It was nice to have the garden room / conservatory as well as lounge for people to gather - all rooms were well heated by the underfloor heating. A couple of issues that came to light as your always going to get on a property of this size were only minor - were the lounge door to outside if opened was extremely hard to shut. The kitchen tap was loose , Apparently the one electric blind in the bedroom didn’t work , the jacuzzi bath when jets were operating a small amount of black particles came through so perhaps needs a service - also the controls only worked on two buttons ( could do with a waterproof instruction sheet that could be left in bathroom ). Finally I could not find any instruction on what to do with ash from log fire - so perhaps a external metal bin or designated area could be specified. I would thoroughly recommend this property and the location being close to several places of interest - Salcombe and Burgh island and stunning coast .Would have no hesitation in booking this property again.

The property

Nestled within its own mature garden in the Devon village of West Alvington near Kingsbridge, is Linham Barn.

Head into Kingsbridge town centre for a wealth of amenities including independent and antique shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants.

Being situated in the South Devon AONB, enjoy walking trails that take in the picturesque scenery, or explore the sandy beaches at South Milton, Hope Cove and Bantham, just a short drive away.

The nearby waterside towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe have a variety of attractions catering to all tastes, while Plymouth also offers a fun day out for everyone.

Return to this wonderful base at the end of each eventful day in this fascinating region of South Devon. Regretfully no stags or hen do's or large parties of young adults.

The busy little town of Kingsbridge lies at the head of a marine estuary in the attractive South Hams area of South Devon. Kingsbridge is home to a range of lovely independent shops and coffee shops, as well as a 3-screen cinema and an award-winning pub. During the summer season there are estuary excursions by ferry to Salcombe which lies on the banks of the Kingsbridge Estuary, making it one of the prettiest towns in South Devon. Salcombe is famous for its outstanding coastal views, rolling countryside, and is a watersports paradise for kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding and powerboating. It is packed with boutique shops, high street brands and independent producers, restaurants serving freshly caught seafood, and Salcombe Gin and Ice cream! Kingsbridge is perfectly located as a base to enjoy the abundant wildlife in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which also forms part of the South Devon Heritage Coast. Visitors can take a walk along the Kingsbridge Quay, wander through the narrow alleys off Fore Street or visit the Shambles in Totnes, an Elizabethan market arcade. Around the South Hams area there are picturesque ports, such as Dartmouth and Salcombe, together with sandy beaches at Blackpool Sands near Stoke Fleming and the two sandy beaches at Thurlestone. There are a host of small attractive villages in South Hams offering interesting pubs, local farm produce shops and pretty rows of cottages, plus further afield the waterfront city of Plymouth is a vibrant centre, housing the National Marine Aquarium, historic Barbican Quay and plenty of night life, including theatres, restaurants and bars. Kingsbridge can be easily reached by train to Totnes and then a local bus service which will take you to Kingsbridge town centre.
