“The house is OK but it lacks some important things: kitchen cloths and tea towels, oven gloves and wifi.”
Each and every holiday home now has Internet access. And it surprised us that there was no complimentary milk or cake to welcome us, as every renting house usually does, something to just cover the first hours. And it's the first time as well that there is absolutely nothing in the cupboards that's been left by previous guests: a bit of oil and vinegar, salt, sugar... That means having to buy every single little thing and having to carry it back home or just throw it away at the end of the week.- Mr Gonzalo Albert,
Thank you for your valuable feedback in respect of 9 Foss Street in Dartmouth. Whilst we agree that the provision of wireless broadband is an essential service for most customers, some owners choose not to make such a facility available to their holiday guests and as 9 Foss Street is not advertised as having Wi-Fi, we would be very happy to find you a more suitable holiday home in the future that does have that provision. Similarly, the property description does state that tea towels are not provided. If you had kindly informed us about the absence of oven gloves, we would have been happy to deliver some to you. Your feedback regarding the provisions provided in the property have also been noted. We do hope you had an enjoyable holiday in spite of these issues and hope to welcome you back to the area again soon.
“The property is as described but lacks the normal polish expected of Coast and country properties, bed linen that dose not fit bed, mugs in kitchen chipped, shower very noisy in use.”
entrance and common areas don't give a good impression.- Mr Richard Twiddy,

Clean, everything you need in the apartment and central for shops pubs and restaurants, have stayed in this apartment a few times and the only thing missing is WiFi,- Mrs STEPHANIE Draycott,
Many thanks for your review of 9 Foss Street in Dartmouth. We were so pleased to hear that this centrally located property, so close to shops, pubs and restaurants, offered everything you could need. Your comments in respect of the wifi have been passed on to our Dartmouth office for information. We do hope you will choose to stay with Coast & Country Cottages again. Owner relations
“PLEASE SEE ABOVE COMMENTS.”- ,
“Perfect location, spacious and clean”- ,
Many thanks for your kind feedback in respect of both our service and your chosen holiday home, 9 Foss Street in Dartmouth. We do hope you had an enjoyable stay and look forward to welcoming you back to Dartmouth again very soon.
“Great spot in the centre of Dartmouth with all amenities close to hand.”
Can be noisy in the evenings due to the popular Dolphin Pub but I think this gave it a good community feel as there was never any trouble. Had everything you need, however the beds and pillows could have mattress protectors for hygiene purposes and the fitted sheet on the double bed was too small as kept coming off! Tap in the kitchen could be improved with a different design as it was very close to the wall which made it difficult to use especially when trying to use cold feed. Would have been nice to have some oven gloves. Bathroom window could be frosted with etch glass film instead of blind as it would be nice to have natural light when using the bathroom instead of having to use the light all the time. We didn't have a problem with rubbish disposal whilst we were there but if we had stayed longer there is no outside space to leave rubbish only a shared entrance lobby to leave it until departure day. The neighbouring apartment did state to us while we were there that it is a problem as it makes the lobby very unpleasant. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would use again- Ali,
Thank you for your valuable review of 9 Foss Street in Dartmouth. We were disappointed to hear of your problems with the beds and have passed on your comments to the Dartmouth Laundry Company who look after the linen at this property. A set of oven gloves will also be provided. All other points have been forwarded to the owner - thank you for bringing these to our attention. We were so pleased to hear, that overall, you enjoyed your stay and would stay at 9 Foss Street again. We look forward to seeing you soon.
“Love the location and facilities in this flat but stayed here about 4 years ago and felt it was looking tired and a bit shabby compared to our first visit.”
Upon entering the entrance hall it is not very inviting a feature I thought might have improved from our last visit .The staircase hadn't even been vacuumed which was a bit off putting. It has all you need for a pleasant stay and is right in the heart of wonderful Dartmouth just feel it needs a bit of TLC .- Julie,
“Stairs leading up to flat are very grubby & cobwebby, haven't been vacuumed for some time.”
Flat is near to shops, restaurants etc, is spacious and has all you need but feels a little rough round the edges. Various items need replacing such as frying pan (unusable), bedlinen (old, duvet cover too big for duvet and put on inside out). Cushions and blankets on single bed and sofa need to be washed/replaced. Dishwasher tablets would be useful.- ,
Many thanks for your feedback in respect of this accommodation although I am disappointed to read that some items were not presented as well as we would have expected.
We will pass on your feedback in respect of the stairs as these should be maintained to the same standard as other 'shared' areas within the building. We will also discuss the other issues with the owners and housekeeper to ensure that items are replaced or cleaned as appropriate.
If you would like to discuss any of the matters raised in more detail please do not hesitate to contact me directly at any time. Owner relations
“Spacious and convenient but could do with wifi and better sheets on single beds”- ,
Thank you for your positive review in respect of your stay at 9 Foss Street in Dartmouth. We were grateful for your feedback regarding the property and do agree that wifi is an essential service for many guests but not every holiday home owner currently supplies this option. We will continue to encourage all owners in this respect and we will forward your comments to this particular owner. We will also pass on your remarks regarding the bedding. Thank you, again for your feedback and we do hope you choose to stay with us again. Owner relations
“Lights in dark entrance hall not working dangerous at night.”
No mattress protectors on any of the beds - unhygienic. Boiler made continuous very load whine any time hot water was run. Light pendant in lounge hanging open exposing wires coming through the ceiling. However, ideal location, kitchen and bathroom excellent and lounge furniture and beds comfortable so would have rated as adequate if your scoring system allowed. Would stay in this property again if I could be sure these things had been attended to. Have stayed in several other properties in Dartmouth that were better maintained.- Mrs Worthington,
Many thanks for your feedback although I am sorry to read that certain aspects of the property were not satisfactorily presented or maintained. We will work with the owners (and neighbours who share the communal hallway) to deal with these minor maintenance issues as soon as possible. I am pleased to read that you were generally happy with the accommodation otherwise and with very the central, convenient location - hopefully we can persuade you to return again in the near future. If you would like to discuss any of the issues raised in more detail please do not hesitate to contact me directly at any time. Owner relations
“Fantastic location & flat had all you need for a great holiday.”- ,
“The only 2 things we would mention are: the ground floor entrance area to the flat which was grubby, untidy and contained a pile of dead flies.”
the view from the kitchen window...overlooking the gents toilets in the Dolphin pub-a shock for them and us!!!- ,
Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.
