“Wonderful as ever.”- Mrs Barnes-kilpatrick, September 2020
“After my review in September where I described the house as tired, I could not believe my eyes when I returned in March.”
The whole house has been painted tastefully and well and the main room which has also been painted and had been dressed with copious cushions all in muted tasteful colours. The kitchen had been completely gutted and a modern clean workspace with excellent lighting had been put in its place. I loved the whole house and what a difference from my last stay. It is a lovely house with a view to die for. Where it opens out onto the beach, It is ideal for dogs and children. I give the ferry side 10 out of 10.- Mrs Barnes-kilpatrick, March 2020
“Excellent”- Mr Nathan Cutmore,
Thanks for your great 5-star review of Coast & Country Cottages’ service! It’s fantastic to hear you enjoyed your stay in Ferryside, it’s a delightful property so we’re glad to hear it suited your needs perfectly! We hope it won’t be long until you return to beautiful South Devon! Owner relations
“See previous comments on firstpage”- Mr ian osborn,
The new sun lounges and matching table and chairs were greatly appreciated and enjoyed by all. A huge improvement from last year.. The house was clean and well presented. The only tiny downside was that previous occupants left grill pan dirty but that was soon washed, ready for our first breakfast!- ,
Many thanks for your kind review in respect of our service and your recent stay at Ferryside, East Portlemouth, near Salcombe. We were grateful for your feedback regarding the property, but sorry to hear that the grill pan was not clean upon arrival. We have passed on your comments to the cleaner/caretaker for their information. Thank you again for taking the time to complete this review and we do hope to welcome you back to the Salcombe area very soon. Owner relations
“A welcome tray of tea/coffee would have been nice, especially after a long journey.”
If it is raining, the café opposite is closed! Everything else...superb- ,
“Only downside was the rear access to the beach for neighbouring house.”
lots of visitors coming and going. no privacy.- ,
“Have already left feedback but lovely position and property, but needs a little ...”
Have already left feedback but lovely position and property, but needs a little attention- outdoor furniture very decrepit, had to empty dishwasher, clean plug holes of hair, sand over carpets etc- ,
“Need the following for 2015: 1.”
lamps on both sides of each bed 2. new television (without Greek on-screen instructions) and remote controls that work- ,
“Ferryside is a lovely home in a great location, it had everything we needed for our holiday.”
If I have to comment on two things it is lack of hanging space in bedrooms (only one wardrobe for all) and a bbq on terrace would have been nice.- ,
“Lovely property, would be good to mention it has a shared terrace however it never effected us as there was only builders next door.”
However it would put me off booking that property again especially if busy in summer months. We had a lovely stay .- ,

About the location
South Pool 3 miles; Kingsbridge 8; Salcombe 1 mile (by passenger ferry) 15.8 miles (by car).
East Portlemouth is a tranquil village nestled on the southern edge of the Kingsbridge Estuary in the South Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The small number of properties that make up this settlement are scattered on the hillside and around the cliff, with part of the village once being home to Coastguards employed during the nineteenth century to prevent any smuggling on this section of the South West Coast Path.
Nowadays the village offers a little cafe (open only on dry days) and a number of tiny peaceful beaches - Fisherman's Cove, Smalls Cove and Mill Bay - all of which have been awarded Safe Bathing status.
Further inland situated creekside, is the pretty village of South Pool with its delightful pub, the Millbrook Inn. A haven for food-lovers, this establishment serves a heady combination of fresh English ingredients with traditional Galic cooking.
Just across the estuary is the popular resort of Salcombe with its charming independent boutiques and plentiful selection of cafes, bars and restaurants, which can be reached easily by a five minute pedestrian ferry ride. Further down the coast are the historic town of Dartmouth with its Castle and the bustling city of Plymouth with its museums, aquarium, theatres, shopping and the Barbican.
A running mooring (suitable for a small boat) is available during summer months and a permanent swing mooring may be available upon request (please contact us for more details).
