Frogmore Regatta, on 10th August between 12 noon and 6pm, is a popular village regatta in a beautiful setting beside Frogmore Creek at the end of the Kingsbridge Estuary.  As a highlight in the calendar for this small village, there is a great sense of community bringing together locals and visitors alike, all joining in the celebrations and activities the day has to offer.

The regatta caters for all ages with a large variety for all to enjoy throughout the day and is the reason why the event proves so popular and visitors come back year after year. From Swing-Boats or the Mud Race to relaxing with a truly Devonshire Cream Tea or a glass of Pimms, whether you’re looking for something to take part in or you want to relax, Frogmore Regatta has something to offer for everyone.

Donkey rides for the youngsters

Here are a few of the exciting events happening during the day:

  • Frogmore Regatta Fun Dog Show: Whether you bring along your dog or just come for the entertainment, the Dog Show is a fun, competitive event for man’s best friend, with rounds including ‘waggy-est’ tail and most like its owner! Rosettes are awarded for the top prizes, so come along to see who the winner is!
  • The Globe Challenge Raft Race: This raft race is a highly competitive affair with local businesses competing against each other on the challenging course. An exciting watch for those sat in the sunshine of the Regatta Site at Pool Meadow and an exhausting course for those involved, we hope you can come along to cheer the Coast and Country Cottages raft to victory.
  • Children’s Field Races and Mud Race: From egg and spoon races to the tug o’ war, these traditional field activities for children are perfect for energetic kids and those who don’t mind getting muddy in the family favourite ‘Mud Race’ which is competed at low tide.
  • Regatta Rowing Races: With classes ranging from children to veterans, the rowing races are open to all abilities, whether racing in the singles or the doubles. There is also the exciting and often nerve-racking blindfold race, where contestants are blindfolded and reliant on the cox steering them in the right direction around the course!

Knights in a waterborne crusade

There are also many stalls from jewellery to books to garden-ware and charity stands. As sponsor of the Regatta, Coast and Country Cottages will be attending the event, with branded vehicles and a stand offering activities and freebies for children. A variety of food stalls with a hog roast, a Pimms tent and traditional Cream Teas, means that after all the activity you can relax by the waterside into the evening. There really is something for everyone at Frogmore Regatta and we hope to see you there!
