May Half Term breaks in South Devon
There are many fun events taking place in the region during the school holidays, perfect for entertaining families with children of all ages. Here are just some of the activities happening around Salcombe and Dartmouth during the Whitsun Week.
River Dart Canoe Expedition
On Monday 25th May, explore the River Dart a little differently and take part in the exciting South Devon AONB canoeing expedition. Designed for canoeists of all abilities, all equipment is provided, and the instructor will guide you along the picturesque river, allowing you to see the scenery and wildlife from a very unusual perspective. Greenways Fairy Day
For slightly younger children, head to the National Trust property Greenway House and Gardens on Sunday 31st May, for their Fairy Day. For the more adventurous families, take part in the Seashore Adventure workshop with Slapton Ley Field Centre, on Thursday 28th May. Put your survival skills to the test, and imagine being shipwrecked on a dessert island! Learn survival skills to help you stay alive, including building a shelter and lighting a fire. The event is taking place at Slapton, on the Start Bay coastline. This fascinating place is home to both a beautiful three mile stretch of unspoilt shingle beach, and a unique fresh water lake, separated by only a thin stretch of land! Kingsbridge Food & Music Festival
Are you bringing older children to South Devon, this May Half Term? From the 29th – 31st May 2015, the fourth annual Kingsbridge Food and Music Festival takes place. Head in to this historic market town and listen to an eclectic mix of music over the three days. With local artists performing a diverse range of genres, ranging from jazz to gospel, music lovers will not be disappointed. Enjoy the live entertainment, whilst tucking in to cuisine from one of the many food stands. Whether you fancy Thai, Italian or Indian food, there is plenty to sample!
