1. The Millbrook Inn (South Pool, near Kingsbridge)
This cosy gastro-pub combines French cuisine with English pub food, creating a gastronomic experience like no other. There are Christmas Day and Boxing Day options for Christmas lunch, with a menu including traditional roast turkey and a vegetarian alternative.

2. No 55 (Salcombe)
This stylish bistro on Salcombe’s Fore Street is open for most of the Christmas season, closing between Christmas Day and 27th December. The Christmas Eve menu includes hearty traditional main courses like pot-roasted beef brisket or oven-baked cod fillet wrapped in Parma ham, along with a nut roast with cranberries and clementines. There’s a special menu for New Year’s Eve too, featuring local 28-day-matured fillet steak and sea bass.

3. Taylor’s Restaurant (Dartmouth)
Famous for good food and stunning views of Dartmouth Quay, the Dart Estuary and Kingswear, this first-floor restaurant offers a Christmas menu from Friday 1st December to Saturday 23rd December (inclusive).
Opt for roast turkey if you’re feeling traditional, or how about something different like pan-fried fillets of plaice, confit of duck with a sour cherry sauce or a butternut squash, bocconcini and red pepper tart?

4. Anzac Bistro (Dartmouth)
In a tucked-away yet central part of Dartmouth, Anzac Bistro is a warm and welcoming restaurant serving Polish and Mediterranean-influenced cuisine. Great for winter dishes like goulash and traditional stews, Anzac Bistro is also popular for its tasty range of vegetarian meals.
There are big plans afoot this Christmas and New Year at this Dartmouth restaurant, with Christmas Day lunch (reservations only), Christmas parties and a New Year event all announced.

5. The Crab Shell Inn (Kingsbridge)
The lively Crab Shell Inn is one of the most popular bar-restaurants in the region, drawing lots of diners from Salcombe, Dartmouth and elsewhere around the South Hams.
The ‘Merry Crabmas’ menu at the Crab Shell Inn includes seafood, vegetable and red-meat options in addition to traditional roast turkey.
