Three local men from Modbury are cycling approximately 900 miles from Roscoff in Northern France to Santander in Northern Spain, to raise money for Devon Air Ambulance Trust. Scott Doswell, Michael Smith and Dan Turner departed on 31st July, and are expected to take two weeks to complete their journey. An average of 55 – 65 miles will be cycled a day by the trio, with the route taking the boys through a number of towns including Modbury’s twin, Le Faou.
The three young men decided to undertake the daunting challenge after Michael’s father Phil suffered serious life threatening injuries in a freak accident during a countryside walk in 2011. The quick response from Devon Air Ambulance was crucial to Phil’s survival, which doctors described as a ‘miracle’. If it was not for the services provided, Phil would not be here today. Michael’s father said “Thanks and good luck! What a great idea to raise money for search a deserving cause-one so close to my heart”
Coast & Country Cottages are delighted to support the team and make a donation. The target for the challenge is to raise £2,000 for Devon Air Ambulance, which could potentially save two lives. The Air Ambulance trust is solely reliant upon charitable donations in order to provide this crucial service. More information about the exceptional work the service provides can be found on their website: http://www.daat.org/
