New holiday cottages by the sea for 2016!
December 11th, 2015 | By Ross Purdy
Many of our customers are South Devon regulars who return year after year to their favourite holiday cottages by the sea. There are others who similarly never tire of the area but still like to mix it up when it comes to the properties themselves. Whether you’re new to South Devon or an old hand at holiday-making in Salcombe and the South Hams, we’d like to show you some of our newest holiday cottages by the sea.
Berry Cottage in delightful Dittisham
Berry Cottage is a beautiful 19th century property on Dittisham’s quaint quay. It has been extensively refurbished to deliver the perfect balance of character and modern luxury. With two ensuite bedrooms, beautiful river views and a terrace for al fresco dining, there’s everything you need for your waterside holiday. The River Dart-side village of Dittisham is convenient for Dartmouth and Totnes as well as the Greenway estate (a short river hop), which is the former home of Dame Agatha Christie. Less than 100 yards away, you’ll find the excellent Ferry Boat Inn and the acclaimed Anchorstone Café. We’re thrilled to have added Berry Cottage to our range of holiday cottages by the sea for 2016.
Batson House – large and luxurious, in the ideal location
You’ll find Batson House just a few steps away from the pretty tidal creek at Batson, while 15 minutes of leisurely walking will take you into Salcombe. Unsurprisingly, with the level of peace and quiet combined with the convenience this location provides, Batson Creek is one of Salcombe’s most sought-after spots. ‘Spacious’ is certainly a word that springs to mind when you enter this cottage. There are three stories and six bedrooms, a large sitting room and spacious dining area, plus front and rear gardens equipped with furniture for al fresco dining. Batson House is surely set to become one of the most popular holiday cottages by the sea.
Dory Cottage – three-storey seaside accommodation
We’re delighted to offer Dory Cottage to discerning Devon visitors who are looking for cosy holiday cottages by the sea. This three-storey property was renovated last year to makes excellent use of its space. It boasts two large terraces for outdoor eating, a secure garage and an open-plan ground floor. There are three bedrooms and an attic den that the kids are bound to love. Walk for a few minutes to find all the amenities of Salcombe, and just over the road you’ll find the Salcombe Estuary. This isn’t one of our largest holiday cottages by the sea, but it’s one of the most comfortably styled and intelligently designed you’ll find in South Devon.
Normandy Watch, centrally located in Salcombe
Normandy Watch is located on Fore Street in Salcombe, which provides easy access to the town’s wide range of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. Located just across from the Estuary, Normandy Watch is perfect for lovers of sailing, fishing and all things water-based. The sitting room, master bedroom and twin room all offer excellent views, and there’s also a well-equipped terrace balcony. This three-bedroom holiday cottage would suit anyone who wants to be in the heart of the action in Salcombe.
Soundings – Sumptuously reappointed, with stunning views
A short, but partially steep, 10-15-minute walk from Salcombe town centre will take you to Soundings’ location on Raleigh Road. This stylish, detached holiday home offers wonderful views of the South Devon fields and hills, the Kingsbridge/Salcombe Estuary and even Dartmoor. With four bedrooms, a private terrace, and parking for two small-medium-sized cars, Soundings offers comfortable accommodation for large families or couples. It’s bright and stylish throughout, having been fully remodelled and refurbished in 2015, and is now one of most desirable new holiday cottages by the sea.
