Winter1

1.Walker’s Haven

Salcombe is included in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and features some of the most stunning coastlines and beaches, perfect for exploring whilst staying in the area. The weather often doesn’t allow for paddling or building sandcastles but a bracing walk watching the crashing waves is fantastic to invigorate and energise. Lots of the local beaches allow dogs during the winter making it a perfect escape for the whole family.

2.Great food & roaring log fires

Salcombe and the surrounding area has a fantastic selection of pubs and restaurants to enjoy any time of day. Tuck into gourmet Salcombe seafood at Dick and Wills, devour hearty burgers at The Island Street Bar and Grill or polish a fabulous meal in front of a roaring log fire at the Victoria Inn. There’s nothing better than a fantastic Sunday roast after a walk on the beach, for advice on the best eateries, ask a local, we’ve tried them all!

3.Take a picture

Local photographers will tell you that the Winter months are perfect for taking photos in and around Salcombe. The stunning scenery looks bright and fresh whilst quieter streets and lanes means the unique wildlife venture out of their shelters. On the gusty days head down to Hope Cove and watch the waves crash over the break wall, this makes for dramatic photos that you will be proud to show off.

4. Farmer’s Markets

In South Devon we’re lucky enough to enjoy seasonal produce on our doorstep all year round. There is a fantastic range of farmers markets within driving distance of Salcombe to enjoy. Pick up delicious meat and fish at Kingsbridge on the first Saturday of the month, whereas Dartmouth is best for scrumptious pastries and pasties on the second Saturday of the month. The famous Totnes Good Food Sundays, held the third weekend of the month are great for organic local produce, enjoy picking up your veg for nourishing stews or tuck into a warming glass of mulled cider.

5. Salcombe Shops and Galleries

Our local shops and galleries let their creativity bloom during the winter months meaning shops are stocked with handmade gifts and stunning works of art. Spend days leisurely browsing the independent outlets, picking up presents for Birthdays and Christmas, or even treating yourself to something that reminds you of your time spent in Salcombe.
