Multigenerational Holidays at Oversteps House

By Clare Levy on March 20, 2014

A holiday in South Devon is a perfect way to spend time with the whole family and provides a fantastic opportunity to relax, unwind and enjoy yourself in the company of your relatives. Over the last few years there has been a noticeable increase in the number of ‘three generation’ bookings, with more grandparents, parents, and children choosing to holiday together.

Oversteps near Salcombe is a VisitEngland Five Star Gold awarded waterfront house in a stunning location with views of the sea and easy access to South Sands beach. This is an ideal property for an extended family looking for flexible accommodation. The property sleeps 16 which can be enjoyed as an open house or split into two separate apartments for more privacy and individual space. Each of the 8 bedrooms features its own flat screen TV, dressing table and plenty of storage and three of these have patio doors leading out to the stunning ground floor terrace making it ideal for escaping the hustle and bustle of the main areas. The accommodation offers flexible sleeping arrangements including travel cots, bunk beds and double rooms with the option to have twin or super king beds making it perfect for families with children of all ages. Enjoy a meal together at the large dining table or dine al fresco on the sunny deck overlooking the beach before spending the night nestled in the comfortable living spaces watching a film in front of the fire.

Spacious Oversteps is not only perfect for a large family gathering but the location means there is plenty for everyone to do. With a stunning unspoilt Blue Flag sandy beach “on the doorstep” long days can be spent enjoying the sunshine, paddling in the sea, crabbing in the rock pools and building sandcastles. Or why not try your hand at sailing, stand up paddle boarding or kayaking. Hop on the little South Sands Ferry for the quick trip into Salcombe, sit back and take in the views before wandering round the town’s boutique shops and art galleries. Overbecks National Trust subtropical gardens are within short walking distance, whilst the Winking Prawn restaurant is located in the next cove, ideal for enjoying a seafood feast whilst watching the sun go down. Or relax and enjoy the amazing views from the very special beach house, Hobbit House, over a glass of something chilled from the beer fridge – the perfect spot to watch the boats go by at Salcombe Regatta in August.
