The Victoria Inn, one of the best loved pubs in Salcombe.

Salcombe is home to a wonderful range of eating and drinking establishments, popular with locals and visitors to the area alike. Whether you are looking for a contemporary waterfront eatery, a traditional inn serving hearty classics or a lively nightspot, there are pubs in Salcombe for every taste.

Our locally-based team have put our heads together to bring you this list of our favourite pubs in Salcombe:

The Victoria Inn

Exceptionally popular with foodies, The Victoria Inn, which won the Taste of the West Gold Award, is a fabulous place for a bite. A traditional, cosy pub through and through, the Victoria has a welcoming open fire to warm you up during the winter, and the delightful garden is the ideal place to enjoy a relaxing drink in the summer sunshine. Delicious dishes include seafood platters, locally sourced fillet steak, and of course, fish and chips. Dogs are welcome, and are even treated to their own menu of different light bites… including pigs ears! It’s no wonder the Victoria is one of the most popular pubs in Salcombe, for humans and their four-legged friends.

The Kings Arms

The recently renovated Kings Arms in the heart of Salcombe, offers a fabulous menu including a range of locally caught seafood. Try their hand-picked Salcombe Crab Cocktail, or enjoy the Moules Mariniere in the comfort of either the bar area, or on the beautiful sun terrace, with views over the Salcombe estuary. Those who favour spicy food will also be catered for – the curry dish changes regularly and is always very popular.

The Fortescue Inn

For a traditional pub in Salcombe, head to The Fortescue Inn – a delightful establishment with a menu to suit all tastes and budgets. Dishes range from Seafood Chowder, to Scampi, Chips and Peas, meaning everyone will be happy. The desserts are also worth a try, including the unusual Baileys and Banana Bread and Butter Pudding! Relax in one of the two bars, including the nautically themed ‘Ship Bar’, or on a nice day, sit in the sheltered beer garden, soaking up the South Devon sunshine.

There are plenty of other kinds of eatery in South Devon aside from these wonderful pubs in Salcombe. Take a look at A taste of South Devon’s Winter Warmers for more ideas.
