Coast & Country Cottages recently joined Alex for a taste of his popular Hound of the Baskervilles Tour. For fans of this highly acclaimed novel, anyone who remembers reading the book at school or the many who simply enjoyed the adaptation in the recent BBC TV series, Sherlock, this tour introduces the intriguing story, including the people, places and legends, that inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to write his first Sherlock novel in nearly 10 years. Tina Doyle, Coast & Country Cottages’ Senior Marketing Executive, comments, “Although I have lived in this area all my life, Alex’s tour took us to many wonderful locations that I had never visited before, nor realised had connections to this famous novel. From village graveyards, to previously burned down churches with black magic associations, the tour helped us understand how this story came about, and the Dartmoor mist descended very appropriately as we visited the marshy moorland of Fox Tor Mire, the inspiration for the very bleak and inhospitable Grimpen Mire in the book!”
