This Saturday sees the annual Kingsbridge Show, a day packed full of excitement for the whole family. The show has been running for 132 years, and although it continues to grow it’s made a concerted effort to keep that local show feel, with a relaxed atmosphere focussing on its rural roots.

Although the Kingsbridge Show only runs for one day there is an unbelievable amount of events and entertainment on throughout the day. To help you make the most of it we’ve decided to highlight some of the main attractions, perfect for your Kingsbridge holiday home stay!

1. Cycle Stunts. In the Main Ring you can get to see an incredible display of bicycle stunt work by Savage Skills. Headed by Ben Savage, the team put their mountain bikes through some truly jaw-dropping displays of acrobatics that are sure to thrill and amaze you. From cross platform jumps to incredible acts of precision balancing this is an act not to be missed. Savage Skills also offer a chance for you to try your hand at learning some of their tricks.

2. Horses For Courses. Being an agricultural show it comes as no surprise that horses are a major feature of the Kingsbridge Show. There is a separate field just for all the various horse events, and they run right through the day. The kids are bound to enjoy seeing the Shetland ponies and the Mountain and Moorland classes, while the whole family can marvel at the Jumping classes and timed power and speed events.

3. Fun For Fido. In keeping with its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, dogs are welcome at the show and there’s even a full Family Dog Show on the day. If you’ve brought your beloved pet on holiday with you, and think they’re up to the challenge, why not enter them into one of the many different events. It’s all in good fun and there is even a selection of prizes to be won.

4. Crafty Business. At the Kingsbridge Show you’ll find an impressive craft tent which will be full of fine goods made by local artisans and craftsmen. You can browse through the stalls and maybe pick up a little treasure to take home. If you feel inspired then there is also a variety of home craft classes on throughout the show.

Of course there’s much more to get involved in throughout the day including a vintage tractor display, live folk music, donkey rides for the kids and all kinds of agricultural and horticultural competitions. There’s also a licensed bar so you can sit down and enjoy a local ale or cider and just soak up the atmosphere.
