Boasting traditional thatched cottages, large converted farmhouses, calming estuary views, a bustling pub, and easy access to an array of outdoor activities, South Pool is a wonderful place to stay to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Holidays in South Pool

At the heart of South Pool is its thatched cottage pub, the Millbrook Inn, where you can watch ducks waddling in the trickling stream that runs down to the creek. Popular for its seasonal events, barbecues, inviting atmosphere and fantastic food, this is a must-visit when holidaying in South Pool. This great eatery is dog-friendly, so we recommended walking around the picturesque village and rolling countryside, before indulging in a hearty feast at the pub.

With a beautiful creek that flows into the Salcombe Estuary, travelling to nearby stunning towns and beaches is best enjoyed by hiring a boat for your stay, or by paddleboard or kayak. There is a small mooring at South Pool creek, which is the perfect place to set off on your watersport adventures (make sure to keep your eyes peeled for seals). However, if you prefer to keep your feet on dry land, why not visit the coastal village of Torcross and its pretty pebbled beach which is less than a 15-minute drive away?

There are two great places to go crabbing in South Pool, the first is from the small mooring adjacent to The Old Malt House, and the second is just down the road from the Millbrook Inn by the popular stepping stone foot crossing.
