Description

High Banks is a stunning, detached property with views across Warfleet Creek to the River Dart and Kingswear on the opposite side, on the edge of this coastal town of Dartmouth.

With fabulous walking and cycling opportunities in every direction and a network of attractions to suit all tastes, make the most of this wonderful, Devon retreat with your family or a group of friends.

You have four lower ground floor bedrooms to choose from, including two doubles, a twin and a king-size double, each enjoying the views and ample storage space.

The master bedroom has its own en-suite, while the family bathroom is well-appointed for those early morning showers or long hot soaks after a bracing walk on the South West Coast Path.

Spend some time with your loved ones in the sitting area watching the TV before moving across to the dining area for a scrumptious, home-cooked meal at the dining table, which can be rustled up in the well-appointed kitchen.

Slide open the patio doors on a warm summer's day to let a cool breeze through or step out onto the balcony to truly appreciate your location by relaxing on the furniture with a drink and ooze in the coastal atmosphere.

Take in the views across the river and listen out for the sounds of coastal wildlife down at Warfleet Creek or within Gallants Bower woodland across the way.

Explore the many shops, pubs and eateries within the town centre, venture to Dartmouth Castle for even more stunning views out over the estuary and discover fabulous walking and cycling in the area.

Climb aboard the Dartmouth Steam Railway, which takes you through picturesque scenery to Paignton and find a plethora of beaches for days out with all the family.

High Banks makes the ideal base for a varied holiday in South Devon.

We love staying at High Banks and this was our 4th stay at the property.

The view from the balcony is unbeatable and the kitchen is very well equipped. We love using the creek which is within walking distance as well as Dartmouth town centre. We're already looking forward to coming back. The only areas for improvement would be the view from the main bedroom as these have become blocked by the conifers as they've grown. Also, we visited in early Sept when the temperatures had dipped and I think the heating was turned off as the house was chilly in the mornings and evenings and we couldn't get the radiators to come on. Please could it be turned on at the start of the month as some of our party are quite elderly and felt the chill? Overall though a great property in a beautiful area.

The house itself was clean, brilliantly well equipped and pretty much as pictured.

The view was spectacular, the terrace wonderful, especially after about 3pm as the sun went round and shade spread across on the very hot summer days. The small children very much enjoyed the provided toys. We liked the large amount of crockery and glasses which allowed the dishwasher to be fully used. The only criticism was that on arrival we found two steep flights of stairs down to the entrance which we were not expecting. Also the exterior on arrival needed attention. Dead plants in pots, lots of dead leaves on the floor and peeling paint on the entry walls. Be aware that there is space for one large and one much smaller car. One space is an open garage which many modern cars will not fit and the alternative rear space needs clear signage to deter parking by others. But we had a wonderful holiday and would have given 5 stars for everything with a tidy of the entrance.
